SRL Archive - Outdated Tutorials

I didn't feel like rewriting my (somewhat outdated :P) Unmatched Beginner's to Scripting SCAR tutorial and I know that all of you lazy people hate reading, so I created a video series instead.

The first few videos are a little clunky, because I was still getting used to the recording/editing software and speaking into the mike, but it levels off after a few videos.

The series is not complete. I have quite a ways to go, and I doubt there will even be an official "last video". There's always a new topic to cover.

Also the videos are HD (720p) so make sure to switch to 720p for perfect quality.

I can't access the playlist because youtube says it is "private" The first video talks about installing SCAR, but the older versions are somewhat useless. Everyone either uses the latest version of SCAR Prerelease or simba.

Good HD quality videos with voice narrative, I've only watched the first one though.

Keep up the good work, I'm also planning to make a few of these in the future, probably for more modern RS, SRL, advanced etc. related things.

You need the newest prerelease of SCAR to auto with RuneScape, and SMART only works with Simba, afaik.

I actually meant differences in the script syntax between Simba, the old SCAR and the new SCAR.
From what I've seen so far they don't look too different. Are there any differences?

Oh, they're the same (basically). It's just that Simba has some methods that are different in SCAR. :)

SMART was originally used for SCAR for years, it's even in the name of it and SRL until they were "changed". SRL has two folders, one is labeled /simba/ another isn't. There are numerous defines in SRL. No one has ever officially said "Durp GPL using SMART with SCAR is ILLEGAL" I really don't see the point of these comments, Nava.

Any SCAR older than 3.23 Beta .. (prerelease 89) doesn't contain working OCR for runescape uptext. Also the latest SCAR prerelease (3.25 Beta) is built in Delphi 2010 opposed to 7SE which has quite few molecular differences.

And yeah. SMART being GPL does make it illegal to use it in a closed source program. No one has to say it, it says so in the license.

Kinda like how half of the things I used to be able to do in SCAR I can't yet do in simba or how Lazarus makes some things impossible to fix at all like my form backgrounds.

Seriously this thread is to discuss WhoCares's videos, I properly corrected a few false unimportant details. Please do not turn this into another simba zealot crusade.

Each one takes about an 1/2-1 hour to record, edit and upload. I could probably make 2-3 a day if I had a little more time. I just started this towards the end of the semester (finals and all that).



To be honest guys the only reason I chose SCAR for this is because it captures a young audience in the RS cheating community. In my opinion it's the best way to start programming/scripting (it's how I started), and I couldn't care less about RS.

As long as the syntax between the SCAR versions and SIMBA doesn't differ, it doesn't matter which program I use. I won't go in depth about Runescape related things (built in functions/procedures) anyway.
