Please please please don't generalize!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You say liberals like it's a dirty word. Liberalism is a spectrum of different beliefs. What it means to some people, it doesn't mean to others. Im a liberal, and what that means to me is that I believe in equal rights for all sexualities and races, pro choice, and the responsibility of Americans towards other Americans.
What I mean by this last one has to do with economics. It really irks me when the rich want tax breaks. Shouldn't someone who has so much give a little to people who have so little? Social actions programs, while at times very very inefficient, do so much for people.
Basically, in summation, I think our government has a lot of problems, and needs to be fixed. But don't blame the an entire spectrum of beliefs!
I am simply using the definition that is in use today… It makes me really sad when people say they are a liberal and vote accordingly (Democrat), just because they think that it is the "humane" thing to do, and that they are looking out for the little guy when they do so… When for some reason a TON of rich people are huge Democrats, and a lot of extremely large companies (Apple) contribute ridiculous amounts of money to Democrats.

lol @ calling Obama liberal. Here in Europe he would be really conservative..
Oh and no one cares about society's weaker people, only about themselves.
No one would consider Obama a conservative, you obviously know nothing about him if you think so.

Yes, in Australia he wouldn't be liberal. I heard the "free health care debate" and went, "OK USA, it worked for the rest of us, but your clearly to AWESOME for such a simple system to work for you…"
I really don't know how much more Liberal you can get, what y'all don't understand is that he wants more than just "free" health care, he wants to get rid of guns, and to nationalize all major industries, which is a practice, known as socialism.
While gun control may seem like a good thing to most of you, the fact is, criminals will still be criminals and just break one more law by having a gun they aren't supposed to have, so a law-abiding citizen not being able to have one to defend him or herself is ridiculous.
For instance, the Fort Hood shooting (I am not sure how much international coverage that got), was obviously a military base, and the people in the military were not allowed to carry their weapons into the area they were in, this did not stop a psycho from opening fire and killing people and wounding many more. And had the people in the military, those who are trained in using weapons proficiently, been able to have their own firearms, he would have been apprehended (most likely killed) much quicker, and innocent men and women in our military would not have been killed.
Not to mention "free" health care is NOT "free" SOMEONE is paying for it, aka the tax payer, it is not a more simple system, it is a system which makes it impossible to produce good doctors, or people who will think that becoming a doctor will be worth it. What needs to happen for health insurance to become affordable is to get rid of trial lawyers who search out cases where medical malpractice may or may not have happened, and while it is a big deal if a doctor does something like that, it drives up the cost of doctors in order to protect themselves from something like that.
