I realized this is what we mostly enjoy doing.
This is what we do. We debate things.

We might not always have something SRL-Related to debate, but hey, we enjoy it so why not?

I'll give it a kick start. I 'apologise' for being a manager rather than a scientist, which will make my topics more managy/psycological than I usually see around here.

SRL is a community.

As a community should we try to act as one? Should we attempt to implement the successful systems of communities that surround us?

I believe that we have an opportunity to adapt any system we wish to, and make that the way our community runs.

We can pick the best of any political / religious / biological / psycological system and adapt it to our community.

You can discern through every system, meddle with the threads and join systems together.

If you think about the internet, in a way, it's the other world. It's the world of technology. The survival skills needed on the internet are completely different than the ones needed in nature.

So on the internet, you get to create a bit of your own world.
We're all here at these forums, and you, on here, are a 'different' person.

Is the internet a different world?

And finally, as I already said I believe this is an opportunity to create any system, I try to implement whatever I learn on here.
It's an opportunity to build our own world.

Looking forward to your views :-)

Interesting proposal, RM. Regarding the debate on hand, I would say that the internet is like a world within a world, kind of like a giant social dreamland.

I would also like to propose a debate, with the topic being: Should this forum exist? I don't think that the SSRL'ers opinions on things like this are neccessarily going to be of a higher calibre than other people of lower rank. SRL activity doesn't always equal intelligence, after all. I don't see how this will attract more debate but I could be wrong.

I'm not really sure that I understand what you mean in your first question. I would think us trying to act as one wouldnt make us a community, moreso that the fact that we all do act in similar ways and have such interests that brought us here would mean that we act "as one" in the sense that it's all relatively similar. If I interpreted you correctly, then I think you have the cause and effect backwards.

The internet is the same as our own world, just set much further back in time, but with modern lingo and technology.

Yes, you understood me correctly :-)

We now know the cause and the effect :-D

We all have to work together.
Acting as one does not mean we all do the same thing.
It means we all contribute towards the same end ;)

I'll start a topic on the Claw's topic tomorrow or something :-)
