How Long have You Played Runescape?
3 Year(s)

Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?
No

Were you Referred to SRL?

What is your general programming knowledge?
Highschool class in Java, dabbled in C++ and VB personally. Other than that, some Pascal from scripting.

Are you a member of any other communities?
Nope. Was one of Sythe.org and ScarScape way back when.

Tell us about yourself…

My name is marty and i'm 21. I go by smurg on a lot of forums (bodybuilding.com, twoplustwo.com). I scripted for SCAR back in the days of scarscape and sythe.org. I had a well known nature rune crafter and went by the name of zestyroper back then.

The extent of includes and my knowledge back then was a lot of findcolorspirals backed up with failsafes of findcolorspirals lol. It took multiple paths and sold noted ess to the store, bought back, etc.

Anyways, I love scripting, but am an engineering major, lol so a don't have the most time.

Started scripting again and have absolutely fallen in love with reflection and it's abilities over normal color. Looking to make some big scripts in the future along with all the normal small flax spinners, cookers, etc.

I read all the tuts I can and scan over a lot of scripts I use for ideas and things so I don't reinvent the wheel twice so they say.

Please show us one (or multiple) of your scripts.

The LesserDemonSlayer script doesn't support multiple players yet, but I just finished multiplayer/report support for the gnomeagility script and will port it over shortly.

Took a while of learning the Players object and looking through SRL. I didn't like how Players.Worked worked because it only added after it changed players I think, which is why I just used some Integer value so i could do xp/hr on a lap by lap basis.

Will incorporate breaks into it next for single players.

The manage attachments link says I don't have access, so.

I actually had a look at your scripts earlier today, and the first though that came to my mind was 'This person has potential!'.

You are most certainly on the right direction, but at this time, I think I'll have to vote no. The scripts do not show knowledge on the following:
- TPA
- Arrays
- DDTMs
- Failsafes
- And some more stuff…

Download some of the scripts that's got a lot of replys, and try to analyze what the scripter's done and try to learn from it. That way you'll know what's needed to become a SRL Member, and you'll learn quite a lot on the way! :)

Not too bad, this is a tough decision for me to make…

Personally I think that the amount of code is little, despite it being efficient in some ways. Other ways for example, like FixCamera; are so small of a procedure that I wouldn't have them. Now to be objective I sometimes do have small procedures that are sometimes even one or two lines, but I only have them that small because I will build upon it.

A HUGE thing for me is failsafes, and I don't see any "if not LoggedIn then exit" at the beginning of certain procedures, though I did find a loop statement that does terminate if not logged in.

As a minor note, it's good you follow standards :) though I personally indent right after the first bold work, rare cases do not have them but I won't even judge that in this application.

One last note is: Try using R_IsUpTextMulti if you're having uptext troubles.

I'll make you a deal, you know your standards and stuff pretty solid. I like that. If you whip up some code that either
A) Uses DDTMs or TPA's with wizzyplugin functions
B) Make reflection failsafes for your current code
Either or, I'll vote yes. Until now I'm not voting, if neither is satisfied above I will vote no, as failsafes IMO are quite key.

Overall very well done I must say.

Not sure how people feel about it these days but Reflection used to be a bad idea for members app's.

Here's my opinion in one simple statement: Good logic, bad methods. Work on using DDTM's, TPA's, failsafes, and arrays, and I may vote yes - for now, I hold my vote. :)

I can still agree with that reflection is almost like cheating when it comes to the harder parts of color like Finding NPCs and Walking. It's good to see reflection used a a back up to color procedures as a fail safe, but that's about it for members apps.

Reflection is the new path to take.

Stop saying no because of usage of Reflection, color can't be as flawless as Reflection, ever.

using relfection does not reflect (lolol) the user's knowledge of SRL though. Is it still a 'third party' include?

If SRL chooses to stay with a flawed and insecure method of botting which is color, then I'm sorry to say : SRL has no future.

If SRL chooses to stay either color or reflection, it's still flawed and insecure…

So using a more reliable (when the hooks are up) method is bad?

Zytex : using reflection reduces these flaws.

The safest method is to use both. I'd like to see at least quality colour backups for simple things, although for complex things there is room for reflection where it clearly works better (fishing spots ;))

This is a member app not a reflection debate lol. I agree with CStrike, since reflection is rising, you might as well get with the program if your going to be active. Just learn a little about it and use it as failsafes in your color procedures. Color can be just as good as reflection, its just reflection takes slightly less skill in some of the eyes of our friendly users on this site(including me).

This application only got three votes………………

This will need re-polling.
