"The Associated Press reports that teens who text frequently are three and a half times more likely to have sex. A survey of 4,200 public high school students in the Cleveland area found that one in five students sent more than 120 text messages a day or spent more than 3 hours a day on Facebook. Students in this group were much more likely to have sex. Alcohol and drug use also correlate with frequent texting and heavy Facebook use."

I think it's interesting to have the factual survey to show this, but I don't find it too surprising. More social kids, do more stuff with people, and people are more likely to bring stuff up online/through texts/emails about drugs/sex than in person.

Interesting for sure, though.

Ha. It's not about how much you text, just you being social.

As an add on:
Whatever makes them more popular/social may contribute to that invisible "higher in society" status, which possibly attracts the opposite sex, resulting in intercourse.

Not common enough.

Also, I'm not surprised. There is a certain aspect of anonymity associated with texting. It could easily play a part in this.

They may count incoming as well as outgoing..I don't know though. I text way more than that..not as often though as it gets quite boring.

I've got a friend who used up his 'unlimited' texts in a month, which turned out to be 12,000 texts.

I've used 15,000 in a month before. :p

I just hang out with people instead of texting them :P

me and my friends live decently close, so we just text to figure out where we're meeting.
