Hi all,
Im looking at getting a Ripstik as the idea looks good for me and i want to get.
So does anyone have one, know about one? If so which one should i get, are good/bad. If not have a look see what you think.

i mean its fun, its a good alternative to a longboard, but much more of a leg workout

so i guess if you want to get more of a workout out of it, i suggest this, if not, get a longboard.

Yeah i guese so but ive done this at school and like it but a longboard is like a skateboard and i dont really like skateboards for some reason

get a unicycle, way more fun and unique.

But ripsticks are cool too. very fun to ride as well.

A unicycle ? well i could get big shoes a wig and a red nose :p

I have never seen anyone riding a ripstick - looks interesting though. One of the questions you should take into account in your decision making is terrain. What would you be riding around in? A skateboard, longboard, or yes even a unicycle might make more sense. Just a heads up.

Umm i live in england so its like all graval roads but there is a skate park near by with metal ramps. So its normaly flat but would graval/roads be a problem, which is where would be best for me

Gravel or pavement? That's weird if its gravel(as in loose rocks)…depending on the town size.

Yeah i meant pavement but like not that smooth.

Longboards are amazing for pavement. I am actually addicted to longboarding. It is a great versatile sport. Street tricks, downhill, ditches, cruising, slalom, whatever you do its fun :D

Ripsticks are ok lol ;)

Longboarding's fun. Great for transportation, honestly. :3 Just don't be a douche about them like most people tend to be. :/

From my POV around here…

Longboarding: Nice people, but douches and disrupt traffic
Ripsticks: Little kids
Skateboarders: Druggies, mediocre people
Unicyclers: We have a "clique" of them around here. They are fruits. (people not unicycle)

Personally ripsticks = great leg and ab workout. I've ridden them but they suck for anything but going downhill or flatland. Unicycles, never ridden. Skateboards pretty good transportation but a group of people I don't want to associate with. Longboarders I could chill with and longboard but I just don't have the cash.

Ripsticks will DIE on gravel. Also, longboard is not skateboard! its 10x cooler :P

<3 you! I think you should try out longboarding, just find a friend that has one and try it out for commuting. It's great.

I live about a 30 minute drive/60 minute bus ride away from uni. However lots of people skate/bike around on campus… perhaps I could try that…

Im sort of joking mate, however, longboards arent designed to do the same sort of tricks a standard skateboard does, they're more designed for higher speed and longer distances. Longboards are a subset of skateboards :duh:

Well the only thing i can recommend if most of the roads are basically just rocks is to get a bike or off roding board

From what I know of them, they would still have a hard time. How long is your commute going to be? Personally, I would go with a bike. So many more possibilities for travel with it; imo.

No no :p i dont want one for traveling i want one for fun.

for funzies, I would say trick bike or longboard. Those would seem most suitable for your terrain. .. or you could do a skate/longboard and put small tube tires on it..

A longboard would do alright on that, but you'd be better off with a bike…
If you insist on using a longboard, you're in for a tough work out.

A ripstick wouldnt stand a chance on that terrain

Meant they are douche's because they block traffic :P

The one's around here are pompous asses to traffic when they ride. They'll cut you off, ride down the middle of a busy road, ride at night on busy roads etc. You name it they probably have done it.

my sister has a ripstick. its really fun to use. i would definetly rather get a ripstick than a unicycle, unless you actually want to travel with it :P

I ride a Origional skateboards longboard. The best out there!! Youtube them. :p

anyway, if the gravel is loose then dont bother getting a ripstick

if the gravel is like cemented into the ground then a ripstick is iffy, it would be ok once you got going but really hard to start moving with. basicly, dont get a ripstick unless you have a big area(like 100 feet of distance at least) to skate in.i think a skatepark would be big enough for a ripstick.

What year is your board? If it's not a 2010 then it isn't that great tbh. Original boards sucked until this last season.
