Might as well give a little info. After playing Black Ops this I what I noticed:
- M16 as powerful and accurate as ever
- FAMAS is powerful, but has big kick
- MP5 is a beast
- AK-74u has a bit more power than MP5, but more kick
- Bolt action sniper (can't remember the name) looks like M40, and is a 1 shot kill to torso or head
- Claymores don't tick before they explode
- Decoy special grenades a quite cool. They make gun sounds and on the enemy radar it looks like someone shooting
- The crossbow and ballistic knife are great fun to use
- The pistols can have ACOGs, the usual attachments, and a full-auto attachment
- Some SMGs can have noob tubes and grip as attachments
- The AUG is an Assault Rifle instead of an LMG like on MW2
- I like the fact some maps are dynamic. On Radiation the are silo doors which can be opened or shut
- The Python revolver is stupidly inaccurate
You've got to remember that most of this could all change in the full game.

The only gun which can have a Snub Nose is the Python secondary (revolver). It makes the gun a bit more accurate, but lowers damage. Also, the M16 is around the same power as in MW2, so sometimes 1 burst and sometimes 2 bursts to kill someone.

Your guess is correct. The BETA was for Treyarch staff only, but got leaked, so there was no official public BETA.
