Hello all! :)
Let me start by saying thank-you to everyone who has contributed so far (yes, that includes the testers)! You've all been great and it's made our work as developers much easier. Now that MSI is beginning to pick up activity, we needed something that jumps out at someone wanting to develop something more than an item/object/script record. Afterall, for the more experienced scripters, that is a very boring job! It's at this point I would like to introduce MSI Extras!
This is an idea Sir R. Magician came up with that allows scripters to integrate their own projects into MSI and have it tested by all MSI's users. It's a nice addition for those who may prefer to work alone or for those who want to start a huge project (i.e. a world walker or autoresponder).
The best thing about MSI Extras is that ANYONE can develop their own idea somewhere where it will get tested. A new folder will be created (MSI Extras) in Includes/MSI/ which will hold all the independent projects. Each project will follow a three release stages - Alpha, Beta, Release (Release being the most stable version).
The main idea of the "Release Stages" is that the projects will get better over time. For example, an autoresponder is released in it's Beta stage and the creator suddenly goes inactive. The idea is that someone who's interested in the same idea can come along and make it better (or just create their own).
Most importantly, this allows people to grow as scripters. Everyone that has been involved with MSI since the beginning is a much, much better scripter now. We hope that the same will happen for you.
Any extras that get added to MSI will be completely user-controlled. If the user wishes to use an extra, they can. If not, that's fine too. Detailed instructions will be made once the system is up and running, so don't panic! :)
We hope that you guys will take advantage of this feature to create some amazing systems. Who knows, maybe someday your extra will be perminately embedded into MSI.
Cheers,
The MSI Team
