SSSS
Scripting School of Simba & SRL

[BANANA]Classes on Request due to lack of participation. We can work with you on a Time and Date for the class later. Thank you for your time![/BANANA]

Mission Statement: To teach our new/potential scripters a little bit more about SRL Scripting and Using Simba/Scar. Giving back to the community one class at a time.

The #SRL-School is now a Registered Channel. Potential Teachers let me know if you'd like to give a Class. I'll Set Op status for you.

Any Members that have some time free and are able to give a quick class let me know what the subject will be and where I'll Post up a schedule on this thread.

Things Students need:

For those who have no idea how to get onto IRC here is a very simple Tutorial by Yakman. Remember our server: irc.rizon.net

Student must also have Scar or simba already installed with SRL in working order. This is will not be a class for setting them up. If your need guidance here is the how to for simba

A site to have in your favorites for the class is www.pastebin.com it will be where most code is posted to keep the channel clear for questions.

Current Classes:

None Currently Scheduled but the channel is occupied by competent individuals who are willing to lend a helping hand to any that have questions or need help.
Completed Classes:

SRL and Scripting Basics taught by BraK. //Completed
**Manipulating TPAs taught by Naum// Completed Chat log available
** You really want to try to attend.

Things For Potential Teachers to Remember:

Remember any class can raise the general level of skill in our newer members. So even if you wish to give a class on how to fix common error in SIMBA/SCAR/SRL it will still help the community. I'll Take part in any classes that I am available for to help answer questions to the best of my Ability. I also be trying to learn something from you all.

Classes and what they will be covering and going over should be posted on here in a neat and understandable way. If possible something like below. I'll link the post to the first post for accuracy on class information.
~BraK

If you wish to learn about a specific topic post here. We'll see if we can get a teacher for that subject.

Mmm, I'm interested in getting back into some basic scripting. I'll probably know what you're teaching, but I want to make sure I still have the basics before moving onto the harder stuff :P. Do you mind if I come?

Also, I'll probably idle 24/7. What's the server address?

Edit: irc.rizon.net - we on Rizon? I assume so, you may want to add a note in there somewhere. Or maybe you did and I'm blind.

BraK

Thanks for the feedback. This is mostly targeted towards our generally uneducated that want to be more. I'll most likely host more classes as my confidence as a teacher goes up. That's the right server and I'll add it to the first post. Thought it might have been in the IRC link I added.

~ BraK

E: I encouraged all those with limited to no knowledge of scripting to join me in this class as it is directed towards you. Also In the Future I plan to take a broken script in the class an have the class fix it. Should be fun and will help you learn how to fix some of them instead of just posting that it's broken.

E2: Note Time Changes for the up coming class. Thanks to Method for pointing out the time differences for me totally slipped my mind.

7 GMT… What's that, 1 MST? I think I did it right. If so, I should be able to attend.

Also, it IS in the tutorial link you posted, but I didn't read that tutorial as I already have a pretty good grasp of most of the basics of the IRC (I assumed it was connecting and such, rather than connecting to the SRL server itself. Stupid me :P).

GMT is 0 timezone. Mountain Standard time I believe is -8. I hope this answers your question. Think it will be 11 AM for you.

That's a little vague Naum. For those that don't know. He meant He's going to teach a Class on How to Manipulate TPAs IIRC. Why is this a good class to attend? He wrote one of the best Tut's on TPAs. He's also a SRL Developer. That means he has a lot of experience that he can pass on. Ultimately It's the things we learn from Experience that are the best to learn from someone that has been through Most of it. Naum could You Verify the time by posting the GMT so everyone is on the same page.

I will be giving a class today at 5GMT on the #srl-school IRC channel, concerning TPA's and how to manipulate them (although if there are a few people in the IRC channel, I'll do any topic). I will also answer any questions.
So, hope to see many of you there :).

Last night class was Super. I learned a good bit and it clarified things a bit more on TPAs.

Everyone should think about getting involved in these classes. At the very least it'll be a refresher if you don't script that often.

Dg's Time Counter.

URL - http://www.ionoone.com/time.php

It will take Time and Date in GMT and convert it to show the users own timezone.

Time is formatted like "HH:MM:SS"
Date is formatted like "YYYY-MM-DD"

If you leave out MM or SS it defaults to "00".
if you leave out MM or DD is defaults to "01".

if Time or Date are left out of the URL it defaults to the current Time and Date.

Examples:

No Date or Time:

Regular:

Format Change:

Size Change:

Count Down:

Forms
with Simba!

You'll:
 • learn quite a bit about forms, and,
 • be amazed at what you can do.

Now, I've never taught via a live text interface before, so I'll give it my best shot. I'll answer any questions through the whole things, but only if they are related to forms!

Requirements:

 • Simba (of course :p)

I will assume you have the following knowledge (but not limited to) with scripting:
 • Procedures and functions,
 • Variables/Constant declaration/assignment, and,
 • Bitmaps
Just the basics :)

Join to learn forms! :)

NOTE: My name on IRC is Mayazcherquoi. I will be your teacher. Don't know how to join IRC? Click here. Still don't know? Click here.
