There has been speculation of beta.
And in my opinion, they NEED one.
But I don't think they will impress.

I think they need one as well. MW2 is a perfect is a example of why there should be one. It was full of bugs and glitches when it was first released.

What did they reveal?

The reason I deem Reach better than Black Ops is mainly because the changes in the game are much different. From what I've seen, Black Ops isn't TOO much different from any other CoD game (especially MW2/other recent ones), but Reach seemed to be a bit different from H3/2/1. That's something that's important to me in games. To me, Black Ops could be DLC, tbh.

Then again, I don't know much about Black Ops.

(Not saying it's gonna be bad; it looks pretty awesome. But still, I think going from MW2 -> Black Ops won't be as cool as H3 -> Reach.)

I like how MW2 and its sister games from the past are mainly multi platform. I really liked Halo3 but I hated how it was just for Xbox :/. Anyway I think medal of honor is better then both, but who knows will see!

"One in the chamber" sounds really cool. Finally a game mode that can demonstrate player skill in other ways than quickscoping, (I'm starting to seriously HATE the sound of Intervention) I believe it will be my new favourite game type out of all the new ones demonstrated.

E: @PC GAMERS: they promised dedicated servers for you guys. Be glad; XBOX doesn't get that.

Do we get dedicated servers? The lag was really unbearable :(

One more question. Will kill streaks be the same (camp friendly)? I hear they would change it but it seems they haven't (from the gameplay).

If by "we", you're referring to PC gamers, then, yes, as written, you get dedicated servers. Xbox players don't, to my (and probably many others') frustration. Seriously, host migration occurs every second to third minute on an average basis. I'm not even exaggerating, sadly enough.

Kills accumulated by killstreak rewards will not count towards getting new kills. For more info, you all should check R1ch's thread, he posted a lot of informative stuff.

Why do I think fanboys will say this game is edgy and bringing life into the FPS genre…

Not taking hits at CoD itself, I don't really care for it but the fanbase pisses me off to no known limit. I would call it good business planning to incorporate tried and true methods of gameplay then to take a risk and do something innovative.

Might give it a try on the PC since there will be dedicated servers, won't touch the console version with a 50 feet pole though.

gun game looks cool. Someone had apparently hacked mw2 to get a dedicated server or something because every once in a while i'll end up in a random game with all the rules changed. And i ended up in the same thing as gun game. It's quite a fun thing to play imo.

Dedicated servers will be cool. It might make some of the less popular maps less played though.

The MP actually looks like it would be really cool. But there's no way I'd go buy another $60 game that's so similar. It's too bad that mw2 doesnt have dedicated servers, cuz then, I'm sure all the new stuff coming out would just be adapted for mw2.

The point where MW2 went wrong is that they wanted to make money too badly, so they made a game that is only suitable for casual gamers, also called noobs. It later become more obvious when they released new map packs at a price, even the old CoD4 maps, it takes them no work at all. Also, this is one of the greatest quotes of the year;

When directly asked if MW2 on PC was simply a port of the console version, Mackey responded "No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings".

Treyarch hates being called the underdog of the CoD series, and therefore they try really hard to make this work. They also seem to understand the basics of maintaining a fan-base; when their nazi-zombies became succesful, they expanded that part of the game - at a small fee.
The only thing I'm affraid of is that Treyarch may be tempted to make money, and looks to hard to MW2. One of the biggest mistakes of MW2 is that some people get killed unfairly.
When I saw the MP in CoD:BO, I was shocked when I saw the RC-bomb. I didn't see how the victim could defend himself against it.

However though, they confirmed they'll be releasing private servers. When they also add mod support, it can't be anything other than a great game. Mods (like CoD4's promod) can tweak the game better than any developper ever could.

That's just my opinion ofc. ;)

Gun Game is a great way to piss time away, yes. I play it from time to time myself, rarely though.

I'll probably get both, but Reach is higher on the list.

I'm really saddened about the fact that they chose to keep the M203's..
Last time I played MW2, I played in three consecutive full-length Sabotage matches where 60-80% of the players were using FAL w/noobtubes, OMA & Danger Close. To top it off, they were all boosted/hacked 10th's with obviously boosted/hacked Fall camos on their FALs.
It's really not about the fact that 'tubes are overpowered, it's more that it's so damn annoying being taken out by seemingly lucky launches every single time you're on a killstreak.. And by people who run around with their 'tube activated constantly and just fire it into the ground besides you whenever they see you.

At the very least, I expect there to not be a way to replenish grenade launcher ammo.. Come on, they've announced five rocket launchers..! (According to R1ch's post.)

EvilChicken! I suggest you get the game battle field 2 bad company. It looks like you are looking for a shooter that actually requires skill and doesn't have 99 % of the bullshit that MWF2 has.

Aww, I loved BFBC2.
Thing is, it got kinda boring after I reached lv. 33, and a lot of the "challenge" and "exitement" over leveling up disappeared. Although playing with friends at times could be outright hysterically funny, I think the game lacks the longevity that MW2 has. I believe that I still play MW2, ironically enough, because it is filled with so much crap. I think it's the desire of finally mastering and overcoming all this crap is what keeps me going, in addition to having the ability to prestige and unlock the same weapons over and over again.

I know it's stupid, but I have obviously not truly realized that overcoming/mastering all the flaws in MW2 is impossible, and as long as I don't realize that, I could (at least in theory) play this game for a couple of years without getting completely bored if I take regular break every now and then.

.. gah, I really hope Black Ops will be better. x:

Theres not enough of a skill ceiling for you to do any of that in MW2. If you really want to feel satisfaction of "mastering" a game, play something actually competitive like QuakeLive. Quake is one of the longest running competitive games and all the pros have been playing for literally since it came out. Newbs quit because the pros walk all over them, so much so that it will probably look like they are cheating.

I don't mean to derail this thread to much but I don't think MW2 is even targeting the playbase that plays for competitive reasons. I think the developers care about creating a very good arcade game. Which I guess you could say they have done a great job at doing.
