[Suggestion] Player talker thingy

After reading a thread in the help section about typing while SMART was disabled, I got to thinking…

From: Coh3n
There was a system (RM wrote it I think?) where you could type something into a text box of some form and it would send that text to the script, then your player would type it. That actually sounds like it would be a sweet Simba extension.

Other than that, there's no other way to type while SMART is disabled.

Seems like a pretty good idea to me. Could be done similar to MSI's Player Remote.
  • Sends text to an INI after hitting OK
  • Script reads the text and calls TypeSend
  • Could probably be called in the FindRandoms procedure of a script
What do you guys think?

Oh, and I posted this because I don't have the time to write it up, otherwise I would. I just thought it was a pretty neat idea.

@Nava, happy I didn't indent? :rolleyes:

I believe the problem is IsKeyDown or IsFKeyDown don't work unless you press it, meaning holding it doesn't work.

Actually.. Now I'm just very confused..

Can someone run this and see what happens?

begin
repeat
Wait(1);
until(IsKeyDown(GetKeyCode('a')));
Writeln('wat');
end.

For me it just immediately outputs "wat" even though there isn't any key down at all..

We wouldn't even need to use any F keys. The MSI Player Remote extension adds an MSI menu option to Simba (just like Reflection and SRL), and once you click the player remote, the window pops up.

Same kind of thing can be done for this, assuming the script that's being used supports this feature. There may have to be some code added to every script (similar to SMART), but I'm sure it can be made simple enough so anyone can add it.

Oh. Well then sure. :p But I would like someone to run that and see what happens. I assume it'd be the same for everyone but maybe not.

Yeah, it doesn't wait at all, just breaks right away. IsFKeyDown is working for me though.

{$i srl/srl.scar}

begin
clearDebug();
repeat
Wait(1);
until(IsFKeyDown(6));
Writeln('wat');
end.
