Title says it. Why?

Frement

2010-08-28 18:25:28

Because he was Timer? Enough said?

Rich

2010-08-28 18:26:36

Erm…No. Enough not said.

Not funny my bro.

As for those who praise that hes been banned/semi banned, i ask that you please re-think what your doing. Timer may have had some faults in him, but i do want you guys to think of good things of him and try to see the better things that will come from him. Its sad to see that we had to take him away from the community itself like that, but it if it had to be done then it was for the good. I just don't want to see things like this go on as good things, when someone is banned, i do not think its a good thing, I do not think of good things coming from it. Just wanted to put my feelings out there, because timer was not as bad as everyone puts him out to be. I hope he comes back soon, and im sure everyone will be expecting great and better things from this intelligible person.

Timer can indeed make great contributions. But greater than his contributions are his disruptions to the community ever since the announcement of Simba.

Timer, for his reasons, prefers SCAR. Not only does he prefer SCAR, he apparently hates Simba. And so he is happy to troll, attempting to bash and annoy most people, as most people are in favour of Simba or have no specific preference for SCAR.

Perhaps you're thinking of the old Timer. The current Timer did nothing but insult SRL in every single one of his posts (EDIT: perhaps not all of his posts, as I see after looking through them, but a significant amount), brag about things he's done (or hasn't done but pretends to have done), and just in general was a bad influence on others and gave the community a poor image. His arrogance seems unmatched here at SRL. Maybe he just needs a few years to mature (I think he's only 13?), but until then, the community is better off without him, IMO.

EDIT: Looking through his posts, he seems to have been somewhat of a contributor recently, so that (my post ^) may have been too harsh. I still think the ban was deserved, however.

^^ I understand. I was speaking from a personal point of view, but what you say is true, his posts did seem a bit self - pointed. Thanks for clearing that up.

Tbh he has the tendency to become a Dev, but his attitude towards SIMBA and this community kinda vanished the Dev future :(

I was negative against SIMBA until SCAR crashed 500 lines of script un-saved :(.

Now I'm… positive towards SIMBA :)

The fact is that Timer was a good asset to the community, until Simba came along. He starting flaming and spamming for no apparent reason. What he'd done caught up with him yesterday, and now he's paying for it. Heavenguard, I understand what you're saying, but you've still got to remember that he acted like a complete and utter twat.

I have had the same happening with Simba. Auto saves should be added to Simba.

^ That was a suggestion somewhere (the Simba forum most probably). I'm not sure if it's going to be implemented or not though.

You should remember he is one of the most talented scripters here :) and contributed alot to SRL.

Auto Saves… Very nice idea.

He is banned for failing to take a hint. We warning him about 1 month ago when he was already being all abusive. After he didn't listen, I blacklisted his IP and accounts. Recently I removed him form the blacklist because he kindly asked.

Can we say he learned from that experience? I don't think so. He started again right where he left. If it had been me to ban him, it would have been permanent. Regardless of some of his contributions; he was bad for the morale and generally just being a dick. Being young isn't an excuse.

There are quite alot of people being 'dicks', not to simba but to other people, yet they don't get such a severe punishment..

Sorry to derail this thread a bit, but where is this bug! I can't find it! Could also be done fairly easily with an extension if there was a `getScripts' method, and one could tell when active.

TL;DR More hooks for extensions please! :)

Also, I infracted Timer for being, in general, an arse. Upon infracting him, with reasoning, I received these:

Dear Timer,

You have received an infraction at SRL-Forums.

Reason: Spam

I got a bag of popcorn for this argument. Go go go!

All the best,
SRL-Forums

Please refer to that last flame IceFire had at you when you infracted him.

I've never infracted IceFire. Once again, trolling and really showing your intelligence and maturity.

Well done.

A Warning, perhaps?

Your cup was a warning.

I don't give a shit about the cup. Didn't you have IceFire flame you off for being a moron at once?

Little more insight for some of you. :)

R0b0t1 used to be SSRL. He lost this. He was also banned for a month.

If you're implying that people who mock Simba are punished more severely, then you're wrong. Obviously this is what Timer wants everyone to believe and this is exactly why he has tried to get himself banned before. I could probably grab some offensive PM's he has send me asking me to ban him if I dared, but I don't think that will be necessary.

Yes, Timer can be a good guy. But he's generally a dick about Simba, and I've had a conversation with him about how he likes SCAR.

Basically:

Me - Why would you think SCAR is better, it wont even compile SetupSRL;
Him - Maybe I have a private version.
Me - Well the public version is still terrible so that doesn't matter.
Him - A broken SCAR is better than Simba any day.

Maybe nava didn't, but timer did.

I can say this because I know timer from a while back, he was one of the people that helped write POMS ect.. so naturally I spent a lot of time talking to him on MSN about SRL related projects and stuff, apparently he hears a lot of gossip as well.

Anyways, apparently he was mad about being banned or something, and for whatever reason thought it'd be ok to drag me into it although I told him among others, to stop what he is doing.

He's been a real headache lately =/

Its awefully silly.

Anyway, I feel like we are feeding the troll. /thread?
