[26/8/2010] What's next?

Fishing and Magic are both under development, and I feel like I can't do much to contribute.
I want to start writing something again.

Runecrafting
+ There aren't many runecrafters, a wanted script.
+ The actual autoing is quite simple to write.
- Lots of small annoying things, such as calculating experience.

Cooking
+ Easy to write. Al Kharid at least.
+ Would be used too.
- Damn lots of DTMs.

Crafting/Leatherworking
+ Damn easy to write.
- Damn lots of DTMs.
- Who needs crafting?

Combat
+ My area of expertice.
+ Lots of places people want to bot, eg. minotaurs.
- Ain't so easy.

What else?
I am leaning towards cooking at the moment.

I have been thinking a lot about runecrafting(lacking time so not much code done).
I was thinking that we could calculate the experience we gained right after the crafting process is done(before we can count the essence) then we get the amount rune crafted.
Now we got the experience we gained and the amount of runes we crafted, now simply set the xp/rune accordingly as that's the associated item anyway hence no need to change core functions.
Finding tools should be pretty easy, if got tiara and not equipped than equip, etc.
I got object records for outer altars(should work for all temple), for the symbols on the inner altar(they share the same color too), and for the air altar portal(portals are different(more or less)). Last time I was doing this vwb was not done, but it's the same as ve only with a higher accuracy so that it finds it the first try.
This is all I can think of, atm.
Also I got the dtm points for the free runes, so with the same points it should find all the free runes(I mean not any of them, but which we are looking for).

Oh, one more: - withdrawing materials should be added to the core for rc.

If you need something to do, Fishing.scar still crashes, I've spent literally hours trying to figure out the cause but it's such a piss off because you have to load SMART up, wait to log in, find fish spot, etc before it crashes.

You don't always get a set number of runes per essence anymore; you now have a random chance of gaining multiple runes with every essence, so that wouldn't work.

I'll help with the next thing to come to MSI, whether it's runecrafting / cooking / etc.

Is there not a CountStackedItem in SRL?
Therefore after you craft the runes just call that then do RuneXP * CraftedRunes?

The one problem would be if SRL can't count stacked items?
But surely it would be one of the fonts, and would be easily made?

Others in the runecrafting thread said me that you gain xp based on essence.
I may have explained my idea wrong.
It doesn't matter how much rune you make per essence because we would calculate the xp from essences.
Okay, okay, example.
You have 27 essence.
After you craft it let's say you will gain 27*100 xp.(2700)
You gain 9001 runes.
You set the xp/rune to 2700/9001 so the CountItems core function will multiple the rune amount(9001) with the xp/rune (2700/9001) and voila we got the experience we gained.

Again, I haven't played for a long time and I only read about runecrafting changes from the other thread. Based on that this should work, no?

@TM:
1st: SRL got that function since I am here, afaik.
2nd: That wouldn't work because of what Trilez(and others) said.

Make fishing compile and not crash, I can't do it.

Wait, the amount of XP changes per rune crafted or the amount of runes crafted per ess changes?
If the latter, then if you call CountStackedItems, after every load then it would work…

If I remember right, you get experience per Rune Ess, not per Rune Crafted. If it (still) is so, you could just count how much essence you have/had ?

As for the rest..
A fighter isn't so hard to do. It's just that it can have an awful lot of features.
You could easily enough get working on the core things of fighting, post up a TO DO of features and things *should* run smoothly enough?

Otherwise for cooker, there could be a thread just asking for the TItem records of the most commonly cooked items? :)

Yes, it all depends on how much essence you craft into runes; not how many runes you craft.

So, to find out how much xp you gained, just multiply the essence you used with the amount of xp that you gain for making the rune.

@marpis
I'd help with fighting when you want to get to it. There is a lot of things I've wanted to add to my fighters - Special using (for members) managing prayer and the like, it can get quite complex. I think it would be best in MSI as more people can fix it sooner.

Okay, I'll talk to you in MSN when I get my computer. It's being fixed atm.

That's what I would do. But look in MSI please. MSI_CountItems uses the autoed objects associated item to calculate how much experience you gained and that would be the runes(which it will count).

p.s.: If you look in my old air crafter I do it the simple way described above(by you). It's not hard in any way, but not that easy to put it in MSI.

@marpis - if you're set on starting a new skill that's fine, but there are a lot of things within the core that need to be done, if you're up for it.

With crafting you can make gold while leveling :).
