Seems like it is not going well for Jagex in the case against iBot.

Seems most of the evidence for this lawsuit is rated unacceptable! It is quite a read, and I quickly went through it, but most points brought up by Jagex are not valid in this paticular lawsuit.

That's good news for the Snellman brothers :)

This was inevitable, but I'm sure Jagex never had any intention of winning, they can bankrupt Eric en Mark on legal fees alone.

The Snellman brothers can counter sue though for their legal fees + time.

@Nava2: They'll still need an attorney for that If they are bankrupt before they had the chance to claim anything, they got a problem.

The interesting part is that the judge claims that Jagex probably won't be able to prove that they actually own the copyright for the Runescape Client, and that the ToS are bullshit because it's possible to download the client without ever seeing them/agreeing to them. Also the fact that Jagex knew about them two years ago helped.
Did Jagex ever contact us? Did they prove they knew we existed?

Here's a quote from that document:
the Bot plays the game for its owner while she is away from her computer…

to do tasks faster than a human being, giving them an unfair advantage

[not exact words]

Now, Jagex should think : why ? Why do people enjoy doing skills faster than they normally should be able to ? Simply because :

1) They are long, boring, there is NOTHING fun about running from the bank, click on trees until you got an inventory full, run back to the bank and continue.

2) They take much too long time, a human being in general has, lets say, 5 hours play time on a computer game like runescape a day ? And he gets what ? 50K exp / hour in that skill which he levels while playing ? In other words, 250K exp per day, you need approximately 54 days, of non stop leveling for 5 hours a day to get a stat to 99.

Botting is more convenient as you can spend your time doing something fun meanwhile instead (or useful [botting during work for example]), Runescape's only fun aspects, imo are the PvP aspects, all the others are endless cycles of repetition.

My opinion is jagex doesn't really care to much about botting ect. they care more about people profiting off runescape by selling gold/ methods/ accounts/ bots ect.

^ You're correct. For whatever reason, the majority of people I've seen talking about Jagex and botting assume that they just want all legit people for some reason, which is dumb. They're a business. They do this for profit.
