'do you wish to leave the starting area'

when making my new army, and using the VE tree chopper, i noticed that when my guy trys to leave the gate in varrok, it gets a message asking if i want to leave the starting area, and the script doesnt notice it, causing it to break :(

so now i have to powerchop, thus me losing out on a little bit of starting out money for my army :p

in order for the message to go away, you need a certain total level. it shouldnt be to hard to find out if you're going to be getting asked when you leave the gate, so the freshly starting out players can use VE tree chopping aswell :p

here are some pictures:

we should make it check in MSI_FindRandoms :)

also, should probably check when the script starts up if your total level is greater than 60(when the message disapears)?

I'm a bit intoxicated at the moment, but I only have to work till around noon tomorrow so if no one gets to it by then, I'll do it :)

If I just start a new account I'll get the message right?

This may not be as easy as it sounds. Are there any other messages like this around where we have scripts that you know of?

What about adding a CheckChat procedure to MSI_FindRandoms? Anyone care to take a crack at it? :rolleyes:

We could check on player start up to determine if the char will get the message or not, and set it to a boolean.

Then check that boolean in the begining of the CheckChat procedure and it will then handle the situation accordingly.

I can take care of that tomorrowlike I said if that's how you want it to go :)

Okay. We can have it check the total level when it checks the skill level. But I do like having it in MSI_FindRandoms. That way it won't get missed. :) I realize you never said you didn't like the idea, but I'm just saying.

just so you know, it also happens when you walk into the gate north of the VE mine(like walking back to the bank). i'm not sure where else it could happen. so i'm with putting it into the MSI_FindRandoms too :p

Does that only happen if you have an account fresh off tutorial island? I mean, if you train up your character a few levels (like you should anyway), do you still get the message?

Okay either way, the failsafe wouldn't hurt.

Wow that would be an annoying message…

Now we just need someone to write it. You should update the first post with more information for people. ;)

It's not skill/exp based. Make a new account and try going to fally or something. You should get the message when you go through the wall near Draynor.

I implemented this once in someone's VEM.
There's a proc SRL_Funcs[SRL_WHILE_FLAG] or something, do like

procedure MSI_WhileFlag;
begin
// Code here
end;

SRL_Funcs[SRL_WHILE_FLAG] := @MSI_WhileFlag;

I'm not sure if we use Flag on MSI_Flag, but if not then we should.

Depending on where the point is though, the flag may not be there.

We can just simply put it in MSI_Flag ;)

Sorry for somewhat off topic, but shouldn't 'TOLERANCE_FLAG' be 'DISTANCE_FLAG' ? Just seems like it would make more sense..

Uhm, did you mean to not change that? :o And yes, we could. Lol not sure why I didn't think of that. :duh:

Doesn't matter, that was just the first thing that came to my mind.

I meant "we could change that to account for this". And I agree with NCDS :p readability.

All sounds good. The function itself shouldn't be hard to write. I'll add it to the Core TO-DO List.

I committed this. Beware that it is untested as I don't have an account with < 60 total, nor do I have the time to make one. My apologies if it doesn't work, but please post in the bugs section if it doesn't. :)

Thanks,
