The anticipated SCAR Divi 3.25 Alpha version has been released in the pre-release repository (http://freddy1990.com/svn/scarprerelease). Some new features include improved debugging with breakpoints, includes management, a new UI, etc…

The following things are broken at the moment and will be fixed shortly:
- File functions
- Inet functions
- Commandline arguments
- Include updating
- …

The following features are still missing:
- Passing functions from SCAR to plugins
- Some menus for the debug/report box
- Part of the visual component library
- …

Note that the core library has for the most part not yet been checked for bugs after the Delphi 2010 port, please report any issues you might encounter that are not part of the previously mentioned broken items.

It's not quite 100% fit for usage yet, the changes so far are pretty big though, most of the main user interface has pretty much completely been rebuilt… This gives everyone a chance to check out the progress. Do note that most stuff in the tools menu has not been fixed up yet. Some more big changes are the fact that the program does not save any more settings to the registry at all and uses a special technique to optimize the startup steep as much as possible. Some additions to the visual component library are TTreeView and TListView although some old ones have yet to be added. The component library does however now support a lot of new features like component enumerators and support for the new Windows Vista/7 UI features.

Good work Freddy, everything looks nice. When you get on later there's a few more things to work out. Looking forward to this :)

Why release something with so many issues.. :|

Freddy1990

Most are just minor issues, will be resolved in a day or so, it's still an alpha release… the commandline arguments rly aren't even an issue, the new commandline engine just isn't integrated yet

It'll be good to get some user input because I can't quite foresee every possible situation this is going to be used in, so having a bigger testing group will surely help the development

i seem to get type mismatches in places that there weren't any in previous versions, on a whole slew of scripts. And should not tabs be dragable? I would think they should at least be dragable in their placement, but i tried dragging them in between windows and they didnt do that either.

Nice work Fredders! :)

I tried it… but it doesn't work to well. It still crashes at some points (do not push stop twice, etc and other old bugs) and the exceptions do not seem to be less in comparison with older versions. Moreover, I can't get it to work with S.M.A.R.T. and without it it sometimes "forgets" focus resulting in random clicking on my desktop. Now this all could be me, but compared to one year ago this is not an improvement…I think.

But maybe I speak before my turn:duh: and need to patiently wait for a more stable release. Keep 'm coming!!!

P.S. Which SRL is in SCAR 3.25???

Wasn't a stable Simba released a few days ago that works with SRL + Smart + Reflection straight out of the box? I havent paid attention for a while but just saying, because I'm not sure how much testing you can realistically expect to get from here when everyone here now has a program which is stable, developed here internally, and functions pretty much the same as SCAR (if not better with more features, open source, larger developer team, larger testing team, etc).

New UI would be nice though :) Was this the one that will be in SCAR Luna, SCAR 4, SCAR 3.50, or this SCAR 3.25 Alpha? Or another SCAR?

I'll give it a shot when its more stable.

Are you sure you are using the correct one? Because I rewrote the entire front end system from scratch, so none of the old bugs could still be in there… Also it's still an Alpha version, I never expected it to be stable, it's mainly just a preview to get some input and some extra eyes looking for bugs…

In scar 3.23 i have to drag it to runescape two times times in a row (and activate the window between them) in order for it to work properly. Haven't tested this new version. Maybe it works in it ;)

Freddy1990

2010-07-26 14:55:14

The window selection is completely managed by a new system now, so it should work :)

For anyone trying to use this with SRL you will need to update your SRL to the latest open dev (can be done through file -> includes manager) and you will need to find your Fonts folder thats with your workplace (one level up from your Explorer->includes folder). Checkout your Fonts folder from http://code.google.com/p/rs2fonts/

This won't work with SMART just yet, I think another day and all the details should work out.

if you go to the prerelease link at the top, or go to here the beta has been released. Anyone want to test it with rs scripts? I only have not those. Though I'm still very much liking it.

New form editor is sick Freddy :)

Freddy1990

2010-09-09 14:46:11

Heh thanks, the form editor isn't entirely finished though, there's still a lot I have to do before the entire thing is finished, but I moved it up to beta because the core library is stable now after porting the whole thing to Delphi 2010 so scripts can run on it. 3.25 is completely backwards compatible with the exception of the regular expression functions which have been replaced by new ones that have a different name but are way more powerful.

Honestly, this guy deserves a round of applause for all the work he's been doing on SCAR, he's risked nights and everything to get it stable.

GREAT JOB MAN!

(SIMBA devs also deserve a shout out, now we know how hard they must work also)

I'm fairly close to finishing the new version, just have a few big but then again somewhat insignificant items on my todo list, the program itself works really well I've been told. There's a lot of new features to improve the coding, as well as the fact that it seems to be very stable now after 3 months of rewriting half of the program and debugging. I'm certainly dedicated to make this best release of SCAR yet.

2.03 in my opinion was the best release, lets hope this can bypass it!

Nice job!

The breakpoints also work in include files. SCAR will include all breakpoints in open tabs for files that are included in the script you're running. Of course if you modified the files after starting the script it will stop on the wrong line.
