I have the ATI Radeon 5850 1 GB graphics card with a 6 core processor and I downloaded the ATI Catalyst but I still get the gray screen? Anyone have this issue and how to fix it?

This is the catalyst I have…

I was getting driver crashes etc, I believe its about the clock speed of the processor.

Go into catalyst, and make a new profile.
Go to C:\Users\<You>\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles\
Look for the profile.xml
open it with notepad
go down to <Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0"
change the 'value' to 60000, but that means you have to up the voltage
go to <Feature name="CoreVoltageTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0"
and change the 'value' to 1000
save it

Should fix your problem.

Damn. Sorry guys I already sent it back. Though thanks for the advice. I have a 700 W power supply so maybe noidea was right but if I get the same problem I will do what noidea has to offer. If I get the problem still I will post here again :) thanks.

700 watts should be more than enough ;)

That's what I thought. Well my friend will figure it out. I will post it when we find the problem.

Okay (Sorry for late response have been away for a while) but I found the problem. Feel stupid for this one but it was the clockspeed. It was set to the wrong type of ram I had. But once I fixed it I got it running perfectly so far.

YAY. Its now worse than before. Instead of getting a gray screen in 3D games I get it right when I start up windows. Isn't this just great. Any ideas. Contacting my friend soon to fix the problem but if anyone knows what it is before I have to go all the way down there and wait that would be great.
