Suggestions list

Hey,
There are a lot of suggestions/feature requests. Because I want to see what needs to be done now and what doesn't I decided to skim through all requests and categorize them in three categories: Minor, trivial things, stuff that requires a bit of more work and things that can wait until 2.0 or whatever.

Trivial

  • CRTL-G goto linenumber
  • File, goto scripts/includes folder Implemented in extension
  • Get/Setstatusbartext
  • PROPER file directories (application data)
  • Drag 'n Drop support (I'm 99% sure I once added that to Simba/Cogat/Whatever..) yes it was added
  • Force one instance of Simba
Medium

  • Subsections in functionlist
  • Right-click for help in functionlist
  • Custom hot-keys
  • AddPostFile
  • Debug stepping/run til line
  • UAC support for updating (relates to #4 trivial)
  • Tabbed debugging
Major

  • Color entropy and texture finding
  • Other scripting engine(s) (DWS/CPascal/whatever)
  • Multiple scripts/SMART
  • Scriptmanager
  • Silentmouse
  • Script formatter
  • Autosave/restore from Simba crashes Done as an add-on!
  • Session save/restore
  • Multithreaded scripts (really hard due to PS thread unsafety).

Uhm yea this is all I could find right now, post below or edit this post in case you got more (and please, use strike tags when it's already done)

Appa working. I believe Ray said it was something to do with the plugin interpreter. It can't use the records from plugins currently? This is probably close to major but I am unsure.

Maybe a code formatter?

Shuttleu

2010-09-28 17:01:20

the code thing that eclipse does

in eclipse you can put { then press enter and it will add a } and indent

this will make code easier to read and will stop begin/end expected errors as it will be done for them
it will also save people some time, of course this should be able to be switched off for people who cant get the hang of it

also maybe redo the settings gui so it looks nicer and easier to understand

The latter one sounds like someone who has a little bit knowledge of Lazarus can do. :)

EvilChicken already made a start for a more user-friendly settings interface, once. I'll ask him to send it to me and perhaps one of you can make a start with the settings interface? If you have some there, that is.

Add "Text from clipboard"

function TextFromClipboard : String;

Pretty self-explanatory. Add a function that takes text from the clipboard without the need for roundabout hidden forms.

Edit:
Another something I thought of: OCR doesn't work in Windows 7 due to everything being clear-typed. It'd be a nice it this could be somehow improved, but I know that's a pretty major thing.

It has been addes some time ago. It'll be in the next Simba release. http://git.villavu.com/?p=simba.git;a=commit;h=7f23ae10b5d940e44e43f7902eb39206d7dccd0e
What do you mean OCR does not work?

Sorry for the long-delayed response. I've had other priorities lately.

OCR doesn't work because of Cleartype on Windows 7. I'm sure it's fine RS/similar java apps, but it's useless for other purposes. Windows blurs all the text to make it prettier/more rounded. Anti-aliasing of sorts.

Also, using nightly build 2010-12-05_16_42 the function getclipboard doesn't return a string (or, more accurately, seems to return an empty one). setclipboard() works as expected.

It would be cool if we could have a function list, except instead of loading up whatever functions it normally loads you could favorite functions. So you'd have a favorited function list, and it would be a nice little look up for functions you use the most often.

I didn't read to see if it was already suggested, but I code in Dreamweaver a lot (For work, not here :P), and one nifty thing you can do with that is click on the line number and it will select that whole line of code and you can drag it to select more and such.

What would be an even better addition to that is if you clicked on one line of code and then ctrl+click on another one (That is not continuous) to select to lines of code that are separated by other lines of code. If that makes sense.

TMufasaBitmap has no canvas. You'll have to convert it to TBitmap to perform Canvas specific stuff and then copy/convert it back.

^^ It gets your tile using only colour. It's actually working already, takes 500-1500ms to finish the search, and this bitmap thing is to make it more like 200-1000ms. Atm my bitmap handling is kinda inefficient.

Basically, I want to grab 100x100 bitmap from minimap and turn it into a T3DIntegerArray that will be used later. Atm I'm doing it in Simba, cause I don't know how to handle bitmaps in plugins and it takes over 250ms to make the damn T3DIntegerArray and that's way too long.

Something I noticed last night was when you go to close tab it doesn't always go in order from right to left and will skip around which can be annoying when you want to close multiple tabs in a quick secession of each other.

Are you importing the MML already? Might as well do the hardcore manipulations in precompiled code, since we all know PS is already very slow.

How about adding a script compare option, where the user can compare two scripts and it points out the differences between the two and/or an option to view two scripts side by side in one instance of simba instead of opening up two.

P.S. The Ctrl-G option has been added, so maybe you can cross it out. :)

I crossed out Go-to line number (it's now Ctrl + G), and for "File, go-to script/includes folder," Quickmarch made an Explore Folders extension. I can't imagine that would be too difficult to add to Simba (not the extension, but the actual Explore Folders part).

I also suggest a bookmark scripts feature where you can set certain scripts as favourites so they're easier to open. :)

Two things I'd like to suggest:
1) When the client is selected and i pick a color using the color picker, it deselects the client, so if i wanted to get say 20 different colors at different points I'd have to select the client after every time I pick a color, can you make it so it doesn't 'forget' the client.

2)Allow the color history to be saved in something like pixel-color format(eg: (120, 120)-16635) or another format which is easier to include in a script, rather than the current xml format(or whatever is being used now)

pretty difficult.

Tho you can manually do it by making a new project in Lazarus, add MML and PS to it, and hard code the script in.

The very simple solution to that could be to just use Simba and try to add some sort of resource file to it. Lock the editor (perhaps even hide it), hide the things you don't need and there you have it?
