Hey,
I know Boreas worked on this for some time. I don't know if he ever finished it. But here's how I would do it. Open your bank and run the script. It should recognize most (tradeable, f2p) items. Currently it runs with an automaticly generated list from the GE, so some items may not work. Tell me how it works :)
I know Magic Staffs and Arrows don't work properly, but this is because the colors are located too high. I can't adjust the system to make it work with those..

Bars probably won't work, as they are HUGE in the GE Pics.

Next searches should be faster by the way, as it stores some things in an array.

Nice work as always. If the GE thing doesn't work out there is another option: What I was planning to do once I got the bank scrolling slots done was to make a bank organizer, that went through the whole bank and moused over an item, looked it up in an INI grabbed from RuneHQ, figured out what category it was, and then put it in a tab according to a user customized config file, and then saved this tab and spot into another file (sort of an extension to the Players type) to make finding that item later faster. So what appears to be someone organizing their bank, was actually an excuse to mouse over every item and generate a blacklist (and also take a screenie to later help tell the difference between a silver bar and a gold bar). I was going to release that part to SSRL, and then combine all the files, as between us we probably have most of the items, and then release the combined database to everyone else.

Yeah, currently it hovers the mouse over the item to check if it identified correctly. If it's not correct, it debugs the fitting blacklist. This way, non working or unknown items can be added easily.
The problem with getting pictures from the GE (I'm talking about the site btw), is that they are too "perfect". If I get a picture from an amulet from the GE, it has a black outline around the whole item (as it should be). Now, if I check for an amulet ingame, it misses the black outline on the very bottom. It is just cut off.
Another downside is that not all items are on the GE. Things like coins, mystery box and random event gifts (clothes, but also Sandwich Lady sandwiches) will have to be added manually. It's not that much work though. I've already added the coins.
EDIT: Also made FindItem, which searches for the specified item in an area. I'm pretty happy with it actually.

@FindItem why not just use or edit the one in SRL?

I meant I made one which uses BlackLists..

Rawr, I was working on something exactly like this. Good job though, I'll help expand it.
Edit: Are there any f2p items which still need to be converted?

Spinach roll and tutor training gear (like shield, bow, sword) are the ones that I know of.
EDIT: And, as said earlier, staffs and arrows don't work, but I think I can actually work something out for that..

HSL might work well.
HSL or RGB, or anything will work fine, the thing is the different parts are up in the number area, which is ignored, some special cases are needed.

Oh okay, I was under the impression that the RGB values were too alike to determine the difference, which is why I suggested HSL.

Yea that could be case too, I was just saying its about where the colors are (where the numbers are) more than the method of color comparison.

I only read this now
Me & Coh3n were reading through it today, and there's no function to turn an item into a string as far as we could tell?
As for MSI: We'll have to wait until this is (closer) to a public release to actually change our system

:duh:
It would be less confusing if it was called ItemToString… just saying.

I know, this is just a test script ;)
It doesn't really return the string either, it just prints it.

Yeah, seems like a nice system to be built into Simba to me. May as well go along with DTMs/BMPs.
