iPhone Jailbreak query

Hey guys a question about jailbreaking on an iphone here.

I have jailbroken my ipod touch just to see how it went and it's really great but now I want to jailbreak my iPhone 3G. Some of my mates told me that if you jailbreak it that your contract provider can find out and cancel your contract, thus you have to pay a fine because the contract is over and all sorts of annoying crap.

Now i'm not bothered about the warranty voiding but only my contract voiding. Can anyone tell me if my contract provider Orange UK will do anything like this?

Thanks.

no they will not, i think it is illegal for them to cancel your contract for that reason

use redsn0w to jailbreak

I doubt they would since afaik, they can't really know that its jailbroken or else Apple would have it built into itunes or something to not allow syncing or some such thing. At least that's my thinking.

call them up and ask them, as that is the only way to know for sure…

I Jailbroke my iPhone 3G for 2 years now, and never had a problem with it. And no, they won't cancel your contract (or shouldn't), seeing as Apple can't tell the difference between a Jailbroken and a legit iPhone (Without trying anyway). Just make sure to unjailbreak it if you have any problems before sending it in.

I used to have a jailbreaking service locally untell the police decided to get involved, and nobody ever complained about getting canned or anything
