Color VS Reflection VS Hybrid

I know how much more practical Reflection is than Color when it comes to mapwalking, however I've heard a few times that Reflection upped your chances of getting banned. Is that true?

What is the current state of TPA walking? Can a complex script be written strictly out of it?

If you use it stupidly, yes, but that same concept goes for all of them really. As long as you use tolerances and don't constantly click the same spots over and over then you should be fine.

Work's great if you know what your doing. This is my preferred method actually. I have written walking for MSI using only TPA's, as well as the walking for my Yew cutter, and the majority of my old scripts too.

Just get a proper understanding of some sorting methods, multi dimensional arrays (not necessary, but definitely helps) and the different ways of looping and you can walk most anywhere.

I would be glad to help you out sometime if you want.

Reflection is the easy and most accurate, however I strongly believe it's possible to do anything in color given the proper patience skill and experience, it is also more rewarding and stable(at least long term) if/when done correctly. I once thought it to be impossible to make some of the walkers for a lot of my scripts until I was introduced to reflection which kept my interested, and when it was no longer available (first for 18 months (KYAB to SMART), then for about a year (year ago to about a month ago) that I really started discovering how truly amazing color can prove to be when you put enough effort into it.

Very soon I'll be releasing a fix for my abyssal crafter which currently does not use any reflection of any kind, as is very stable and accurate even when compared with a reflection based one.

Despite all of this, I will always be a supporter for hybridization. And that is the practice of using all methods available starting with the best with fall-backs and/or different versions.

Anyways, no one will ever/can ever force you to chose between them. These are all just opinions and it's best to try everything so your opinion has real foundation.

I'm about to release a full-color autoectofuntus :) I think it will be yet another proof that reflection isn't needed to make a good script.

People know it isn't needed to make a good script, but people say that why make things harder for yourself.
My 2 cents is:
If you want to learn how to code, pascal etc… script in colour.
If you want a quick and easy script to make that will work very accurately then script in reflection.

I've never used Reflection so I have no idea how simple it is, but I know that with well built color functions, you just need a few parameters to have a precise object finder :)

Color is better(I mean by better results) for most of the scripts such as alchers, fletchers, miners, smithers, pest control, soul wars but when it comes to much bigger projects such as green dragon killers, aviansie killers, slayer scripts etc reflection would be a better choice in my opinion.

Advantages of color:
-Scripts doesn't always break after updates.
-Ability to bot on your browser. (I really love this ability since I feel much safer that way)

Advantages of reflection:
-Walking is easy.
-You can do things that you couldn't do without reflection such as identifying different npcs on your minimap (they all look yellow).

I agree that it is true, but if they update the colors… would not reflection stand better? Or even the shape, which may throw off most scripts? Of course one that has both and advanced will ideally be… ideal :)

If they update anything Reflection hooks break anyways AFAIK. When you use Tolerance with your color finding routines however, it helps with the changing of colors.

Why does everyone act like hooks breaking once a week is a huge deal and one of the greatest flaws of reflection? It takes minutes for someone with an updater to update and upload the new hooks when he notices it (probably within a few hours). Everyone here is extremely concerned with getting banned yet you'd think you were running bots 24/7 since 5 hours lost/week appears to be a deal-breaker.

And there's probably higher ban-rates with reflection because there are more poorly written (in the sense of anti-ban, suspicious/trackable patterns, etc) reflection scripts that have great runtimes than there are poorly written color scripts with great runtimes (since all you need is an ID and you're guaranteed an accurate click, vs. creating a DDTM, etc, that might or might not work).

I wasn't bashing reflection at all if that's what your referring to. I was simply stating that if there is an update that makes a color script not work, then it's going to make a reflection script not work as well. And the fact that because we use tolerance with our colors, it makes them able to withstand most small updates.

Unless there is an ID change, or something of the like, (which is uncommon, as far as I know) the only thing broken will be the hooks (which are a non-issue). I don't think updates have any value in a reflection vs color debate – color updates are extremely rare, and hook updates have virtually no effect.

(I wasn't referring specifically to you in my last post, by the way)

I find colour scripting more fun, just because I enjoy programming, but reflection is easier to learn and generally gives better results (unless you're an experienced colour scripter).

Also, the current reflection hooks have been outdated for a couple days now as far as I know. There are a few that can be manually updated (for example, I just updated the ones used for walking), but the ones in the reflection include are still outdated because we can't get the rest of the updated hooks.

Oh, I wasn't aware that nobody has a working updater; pretty big deal then.

Hmm,why doesnt some one make a program to check and see if the hooks are correct every 10 or 20 minutes? If they're not correct, have it run an updater and parse the Reflection hook file and upload the correct hooks?

It sounds easy enough?

I think there are a few, I just don't think they get *all* the required hooks.

I'm from RSCA, where Ibot uses reflection. I don't know anything about the color, but I believe that you can indeed obtain longer durability with color (not much problems after update), but on the other hand reflection is more "powerfull", meaning that you can indeed identify npc's, the walking is easier, …

reflection IMHO makes scripts too perfect, i mean with a reflection you can get every thing correct every single time, but a human wouldnt get everything correct every time, but if you were to create it so it got it wrong sometimes then then it can be humanly perfect

and like you said, it can break when RS is updated, what i would prefer is to use reflection and make it fail sometimes, then have everything backed up by color so if RS updates, the script doesnt

Make it fail sometimes…?

I'd rather have a script that can do everything perfectly. Then I can choose when to make it 'imperfect' and also make the script correct its own mistake.

codegrabber, for some reason, (this being the last colour community), we've survived where others haven't. Maybe because jagex underestimates colour or because we're a relatively small community. And so while colour / simba is the best chance for survival, here is where my bots will be :p

Yes, that's a fact that this community is still alive. I didn't use this software yet so I can't speak for it, so that's why I did put that quote marks…

And to come back to your "perfect" script: according to a "leaked" anti-bot document Jagex looks at the precision of clicks… Real players click most of the time near the center (if you take a dart board for example, a real player will click/hit near the center most of the time, but will sometimes miss aswell). A reflection bot randomly (ibot afaik though) clicks somewhere in the object, which results in a bigger spread… I don't know how it's about with color?

It's all down to how you script it. Mostly we (in general) always do aim for the center of things as it's the best way to be sure we will hit the right thing. We do have randomness in our clicks meaning we won't click EXACTLY the center, but so close that to the human eye (and therefore jagex) it makes no difference.

TBH as RM said on a small scale (range is like 31x31 for items and sample size is whatever they can log) it's hard to tell whether clicks have a uniform or Gaussian distribution (with enough certainty to ban, and maybe even flag). However if you really wanted to experiment you could do something like what lardmaster did almost 4 years ago here: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2853
