I'm disappointed (I'm English BTW), but what about you lot? What did you think of the quality of play?

Meh, they got lucky. We played much better than them throughout the game, It was just a bad mistake by the keeper, otherwise we would of won.

I mean honestly, wtf was Green doing.
I know one thing though, Fabio will be having a few words with them (even though he said they played well). Also, did anyone manage to catch Fabio Capello's reaction to the 4th minute goal? He was really furious…lol :p.
@R1ch: IPlayer is only exclusive to UK audiences AFAIK.

I didn't understand that. How can he be angry at his team scoring in the 4th minute?

Yeah, I noticed that too.. didn't understand it either :p
I found the game to be quite average. England played with a weird formation in my opinion.

Can't blame Green. Everyone fucks up guys. And Green did push a ball onto the post in a pretty decent save later on in the game.
England underestimated the USA, finished poorly and most of their final passes were shit awful.

I lold at the commentator yesterday. "At this moment, school boys will be talking about how they wouldnt have even made that mistake."
On a side note: AU vs Germany today!

This is a really interesting group :) A lot of you people here come from USA or England and both of them together in a group with my country.
I'm not a football fan, I don't know anything about it but I know that Slovenia (with our players from Bosnia & Herzegovina) will own both USA and England :p

Slovenia got lucky with their first game ;) I'm afraid I don't see them going to the next round.

I thought overall US had their heads in the game longer and more determined. A silly mistake gave England too much confidence and they lazied out for that last bit of the game.
For this game I thought US >= Engl

Hehe :) I didn't even watch the game :p
For us, it is a great success just to be in the world cup and I couldn't care less if we lost all games, although it would be nice if we owned USA and/or England :p

Silly? It was worse than the Green save technically.

Did anyone else think that Green could probably have still saved the ball after his initial mistake?
He puts his hand down awkwardly right after, probably for balance, but I feel like he could have still just thrown his body backwards and gotten to the ball. That ball was moving so slowly…
After my initial jubilation and screaming for joy I started feeling horrible for him. All of England will hate him. After all, this is was the World Cup where they were supposed to not choke for once, right? Capello had magically restored England's confidence and it all just piddled away with that one moment.
As far as the match goes, I thought lack of show from Rooney kind of crippled England's attack. Heskey has amazing distribution but horrible finishing, so without Rooney doing much, England's only real chances were getting it out wide or finishing from the midfield. And with Howard in goal, we just managed to avoid them long enough to get the tie.
I was proud of the U.S. for actually playing up to the level of the English team, instead of how they played when we beat Spain (2 shots 2 goals :)). In my opinion the U.S. team did better the first half, and England just dominated the second half. But just the fact that we played to their level for a large portion of the game is a big deal :p
