Kidney Stones

So, as it might suggest: kidney stones.

Anybody here know what they are, had them, et cetera…

Over this last weekend I got hospitalized because I had/have kidney stones. I thought it was about time that I went to the hospital when I was clearly pissing and vomiting blood. This is definitely much more painful than breaking or spraining a bone/muscle. I passed one kidney stone through my left kidney and got to look at the CT scan of stones in my right kidney (doc says they probably won't move for a year or two), that is one hell of a thing to look forward to…

Proportionally speaking, I had a spiked rock baby through urinary tract.

Never have had one either, and hope that I never have to either. All I know is they are painful as hell.

My uncle had 2 that he had to pass and the Doctors told him that they are as close that males can get to the pain of having a child.

Yeah damn I feel sorry for you, I've never had one, but I've heard they are excruciatingly painful.

Did they at least give you drugs?

Ugh, sounds awful! Try get them crushed with ultrasound.
Did your doctor talk about this? If not, go talk to him/her again and ask about this.

Thanks for the tip

The stones in my right kidney are just getting larger over time. They are not currently big enough to ultrasound..

When I was in for my last appointment I asked him if I spent 10 minutes every day yelling at my kidney if it would slowly break down the stones.

ultrasound them sons of guns
and how did they make you vomit blood? The renal system is pretty independant of the digestive system.

My step mom has had kidneys stones and given birth. She said that they were similar amounts of pain.

Congratulations; you now have a semi-accurate idea of what birth feels like.

Usually with Kidney stones, you can pee them out. For females, this is pretty easy as there pee hole can fit a fist.

For us males, our pee hole is too damn small, and I can just imagine your pain right now. My science teacher had some kidney stones, somtimes he would fall to the ground because of the pain.

Uhhh.. no..

Their pee hole is the exact same.

They have two holes.. One has the pee, the other has the baby..

I feel for you man, my science teacher told me that it was the most painful thing he has ever experienced and said that they can be broken down with high frequency sounds as mentioned before in this thread.. Any idea what caused them?

No idea what caused them. Unfortunately I passed the main stone in my left kidney while I was not at the hospital. As such, it was not able to be scanned and analyzed.

The Doc that I went to was not able to recommend any dietary changes because there is more than one type of kidney stone and they are caused by different things..

ROFL, sorry, the urethra is relatively the same diameter for males and females. However, females do benefit in this scenario by having a shorter urethra. You also have to take into account that it isn't just the urethra where the pain comes from, it is the ureter, which is between the kidney and the bladder. I believe that females also have a shorter ureter, but again, the same diameter, depending on genetics.

Yeah, some are caused by too much calcium, and are a calcium core that accumulates more calcium and uric acid to form. Some are totally natural accumulations of uric acid.

AHH!

So less passing time and less pain. Knew I got something wrong there aha.

^ But there is some differences in pain between males and females. Females (if I recall correctly) feel worse pain than males. So it would be about equal pain for both males and females, theoretically. (Of course it's impossible to say that it's completely true, as pain is a quale (I think I used incorrect grammar, sorry).)

Let me do some explaining.
To those of you who are arguing who has more pain… you are all wrong. To those of you who are arguing sizes and distances for more pain… you are all wrong. Don't worry you are all right also. o.0 srsly?!?

The most pain occurs when the stone is passing from the kidney down the ureter and into the bladder. The next level of pain comes from the passing of the stone through the urethra out into the open. Basically there is a small spiked/jagged stone/bb passing through small tubes on the inside of your body. A lot of times this includes scratching its way though the inside walls of the organs.

In my case the stone go stuck in my upper ureter (right outside of the kidney). This caused major swelling and infection in my kidney. As part of this, I spent some time peeing out blood (it was blood color… not clearness or yellow) and vomiting blood (stomach acid and blood mix… I couldn't hold down any food). This is the worst pain I have ever gone through. It definitely puts a little perspective on stubbing my toe now… now I am just like .. * smash.. "huh, it could have been worse… "

I have it maybe 1 or 2 times in a year. my advice is drink really much water. Like 4 - 5 full glasses. Wait to pee it out. If its good you will pee your stones with it. Drinking enough water is always a good thing for your body.
