alright, i want to learn how to script and just want you guys to clarify some things for me.
1.do i need to learn "pascal" first? if i do i found this is it legit for me :)

in that website it also says: There are several good compilers out there - the most popular ones are Free Pascal and Turbo Pascal. (i download 1 ofthem right?)
2. after i learn "pascal" can i move on to learning how to script?

1. The tutorials here in the tutorial island section of the forums will teach you pascal, you shouldn't need any other kind of tutorial.

2.You don't need any kind of compiler besides SCAR or Simba.

You don't need to know pascal.

but is it better in the long-term to learn pascal now? i don't mind, new summer hobby :)

personally, i dont think so. if i were you, i would first read over tons of tuts (here). then i would open working scripts, and analyze them. Then after having sufficient knowledge of how a script should be structured and made, create your own. :)

Just read as many tuts as you can, start with the ones that interest you. Personally this http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8392 was what got me started on learning how to script, although it's a little outdated now :)

And don't be afraid to ask questions! It's the only way to learn, even if you feel like they're retarded, still ask them.

Oh and you can go on IRC and ask if it's not worth making a whole new thread about or you want fast answers.

Learning Pascal is useless (for creating scripts here, and even so, it is pretty much a dead language, i think), Our scripting language is only based loosely off pascal.

If your going to learn to script, I personally starting a script is the way to go, do parts of it, learn skills and put them into action. Learn them through tutorials, but don't try and learn everything first, its just not smart.

I only know the very basics about pascal. There really is no need to learn pascal (mostly dead). That is just the language SCAR is based off of, so I would just jump right in to scar, which is the easiest way.
