I got rocked by the ACT. :(
Title pretty much sums it up. I got the ACT results yesterday, and I got a 20 composite score. My projected composite score was supposed to be 31(out of 36 possible points.) I don't understand, I knew I have answered at least 75% of the questions correctly. I also took Adderall to help me focus on this test, and I did much worse than what I was expecting.
Well, that's my rant. Anyone else care to post up their ACT scores?
For those outside the US, the ACT is a mandatory test for grade 11(Juniors) in high school. It's one of the major things that colleges look at, and most (decent) colleges look for a score of 21-26.

hmmm, isn't mandatory here… Of course most colleges require you to take the either the ACT or SAT. I took the SAT since it was the last one offered my senior year, and I procrastinated that long, lol.

I took the ACT and got a 21 and stopped there cause that got me into the college I wanted.
If your still a junior, just keep on studying and rock out the fall tests.
Btw, APs are much easier than SAT/ACT.
P.S. I got 26, not bad for canadian.

I got 28 on my ACT umm 4 years ago XD. Only time I've ever taken it.
Yeah, I am prescribed to Adderall. I usually do not take it though, as it kind of changes my personality. I usually talk much more, and do not eat/sleep. So, that's the only reasons why sometimes I will not take it.
As for the mandatory part, I meant for Illinois, sorry about the confusion.
But, I might as well take it again. I want to get into NIU, and I believe you must have at least a 24 on it, unless you're like an b+/a student.

APs take a lot longer than the ACT or SAT. Im signed up for the June ACT but i got a 1960 on my SAT, so idk. Im not sure what to think of it if i get like a 30. Whats better? a 1960 or a 30?

It was 'mandatory' for our state when I was in school, since we didn't take the SAT. I got a 32 on it, but that was before some of you were born…
That sucks :(
When I took mine I got a 30. My High school required ACTs and not SATs and I had a track meet that day so I picked track over the SATs :p But that was 3 years ago lol

AP is just a bit shorter than SAT and ACT, with SAT Being the longest (And the hardest).
In my experience, ap chem ,bio ,physics (B) and calc's exam were much easier than the ones provided on books and the ones provided in class. Probably because they are much more technological rather than trying to trick the living hell out of you.
Besides… since when does ap needs 2000+ words volcabulary :sasmokin:?
P.S Sebo, in your opinion what is the hardest section for you?

Woo I feel smart! I got a 33 :p
And Sebo don't sweat it dude, if you take it again I guarantee you will do better. I have not met a single person who retook it and didn't get higher, and I know 15+ people who retook it.
Also, take the SAT, most colleges will accept either one (unless you're going Ivy League, but then you have to do SAT II's as well), and from my experience you're either an SAT person or an ACT person. I did really well on the ACT, but only got a 2060 on the SAT. My friend got a 28 on the ACT and a 2340 on the SAT.
If I remember correctly, ACT is more how you apply learned knowledge, whereas the SAT is logic and outside the box thinking. Maybe you're just more of an SAT guy :)
And in the end I would say don't value yourself as a person based on test scores. I know a few super smart people who did mediocre on standardized tests. In my opinion the whole standardized test system just tests your test-taking ability, not your actual ability to think.
I remember princeton review classes, every day *Strategy, strategy… more strategy*
I loved the vocabulary competition thou, you can try that with your friends. Splits into two groups and have one person quize each team on like 50-100 words (given previously to each group). Fun as hell (Seriously)

Take the SAT.
I got a 26 on the ACT and a 2210 on my SAT. The SAT is a harder to complete, but it is easier in my opinion.

The hardest part for the ACT for me, was the science part, but that's the part I did best on. I got a 24 on science portion, and my weakest, yet strongest subject, was English. Which I got an 18 on. Kind of confused me how that happens.

Well, I know ACT's are made to TRY and confuse you, they say that they WANT you to get the wrong answer. But thank you, I have to wait till Fall to take it again.

It's $80 to take the SAT, and then to retake the ACT is $50, which I really do not have the money for at this time. :\
Trust me, SAT is harder than ACT (Even thouh I scored higher on SAT 0_o, because of over preparation *which is probably true for alot of other people as well*).
Try the english again, maybe you just had a brain twich during the test.
Unless you live in texas (apparently your from Il), they get the june SAT test for free.

The thing is, I was so confident with my ACT answers, the only thing I had a hard time with was the math section, because my calculator HAPPENED to die on me 3 questions in. (The first 15 question are always the easiest.) and I got a 21 on the math part, which makes absolutely no sense. I mean I guessed more than 75% of the math part. I was so ready for the ACT those days too. Like usually, I would be like "screw this, i'm going to blow off this test…", but I was actually interested in the questions, and wanted to do good on it. :duh:

Definately take it again. I took it 4 times and went from a 26 to a 34. Got a nice scholarship from it :D

I thought the ACT was a little bit of a joke…I personally did not need to take it, but I did anyways and got a 33 which got me a pretty scholarship that I can't use because I'm going to a junior college that I already have a full ride at. You should probably retake it, and to prepare, just buy one of those 20 dollar books…or use a free site online. I did both.

You should try the SAT; many people who score poorly on one do well on the other.

Ah, I was talking about the fact that a very much most of the people that take the AP test take the class. So you have to take the class + test = a lot of time. Whereas the SAT is just a 6 hour test. Its silly that the prices are switched. The AP test is the shortest and is $80 and the SAT/ACT are longer and cost much less.
but for that 80 buck you can skip one or two course in uni:)
