This was another thing that crossed my mind yesterday.
We constantly try to avoid jagex, and most often succeed. But every now and then… we fail at it.
Competition makes for perfection.
My idea? A private Server, mirroring the current RS. Why?
Several Reasons:
Random Solving - We have our own server, we can just walk members into the randoms by typing some command and then attempt to solve them.
Macro Detection - We don't exactly know how jagex detects us. But if we make our own system, and perfect both the detection system as well as our scripts jagex will be no match to us.
We can even send RandomEvents to players, and there can be a command to just get out of the random.
The fact that you were sent into a random would be a sign of your script being detectable.
Sounds like some fun ideas to me:)

That sounds awesome to me actually. I definitely support this idea.
NO. More work and time than it's worth. Trust me, I'm a global moderator at mopar's and I have played with private servers very often. It truly isn't worth all the work.
edit:
If you manager to do deobfuscate and rename 603+ then you have to worry about weekly updates and keeping up with them. plus the traps jagex places in the client to prevent people from doing this. plus they randomly throw in junk to confuse people.
Wizzup?

I don't think it's a good idea either, tbh. It's better to test at the real thing, and we don't want to draw attention from Jagex. They seem kinda butthurt over all the Java Hacking and Reflection.
And it's illegal because we're modifying their intellectual property.

Uh. True…
What about all the other private servers…? Jagex doesn't seem to mind them..? But yeah, it's something they could use against us… :s

Actually Jagex does mind them.
IIRC one of the major servers got sued quite a bit quite recently.
Shady?

I support this anyway, maybe it makes RM feel better :P

Haha.
I still think it would be an awesome thing to have.
For Random Development, Script Development and Java Knowledge.
But indeed, does not seem to be very practical.

At least not for these forums ;)
You're more than welcome to come to moparscape.
I do not accept liability if you hang yourself after ~30 minutes.

im not that into RS botting anymore, but yes, iv wanted this since i started scripting
EDIT: after i read everyone's comments, i see how this could be bad for us, but to make random solving 100%, and easier to code it is a plus

I think the amount of time and effort required of you guys to get something like this working is more than you would be willing to put in.

Quite likely unfortunately. It could be really useful.

Hadn't read the edit.
They don't change everything every week… most often than not it's just small changes that barely affect the game. The randoms remain pretty much the same.

You are wrong. It isn't a matter of in-game changes at all. Is is a matter of the traps and arbitrary code they add and is checked upon and during run time.
Mess up and not catch one it == BAN.
Plus private servers are lulz. Just use the real deal (RS) ;)
