What functions are still viable in Simba, will SRL eventually become Simba Resource Library instead?

Virtually all. :) And SRL 5 (in the works) will only work in Simba.

Name change.. I'm not sure. Probably, now that I think about it.

That is good to hear. Only thing I need to hear to jump back into scripting Simba(formerly Scar) would be – Do you guys have scripts running, with smart(no mouse control) that work fairly well? I have been a little skeptical but obviously the great scripts are private XD

I only use SMART, really. Unless I'm only autoing for a small amount of time, just because it's easier for me. :)

SMART works better in Simba than SCAR, if that's what you're asking?

I just didn't want to use SRL functions in Simba if they didn't work well- which is what I gathered by the lack of any functioning scripts on this website.

Well most scripts are outdated. But SRL functions work just fine in Simba. :)

SCAR is no where in SRL and hasnt been for awhile…

SRL = SRL Resource Library.

Most scripts will look in simba as long as you include Simba.simba

There are few scripts because simba is very recent ;)

As previously stated, SRL 5 will be simba only. Someone might attempt to port it to scar.

I don't think it has ever been named Simba Resource Library.

There are no plans to rename it. So unless there is a thread in the Developers forum that I have missed, I see no reason to assume a rename? Unless you just want to troll more, like in your last post(s).

At the time of the SRL name change Simba was called Cogat (and later Mufasa).. So, what are you trying to proof, son?

I am not so sure that I understand SRL 5. How different can it be from SRL 4 except for making all the functions work and work well. Maybe adding more functions. That all seems pretty standard as far as updates go. Why is it that every time someone talks about SRL 5 it sounds like its going to be something completely different. So when saying SRL 5 "is in the works" it seems to me, that it always has been since SRL has always been being developed, this is just an update with a version change. Someone correct my vision of what it will be please.

Also the talk of it not being compatible with SCAR. As far as i know, the syntax of Simba isn't all that different from that of SCAR, so the only real difference in that area would be the developers just not actively trying to maintain compatibility. So saying that it is Simba only is being kind of silly since i wouldn't expect more than some relatively easy changes on freddy's part in the way of a compatibility mode, or simply in SCAR for it to work. Semantics a bit yes, but its not as if you're converting pascal to C to make it compatible.

Not just that, be a head to toe remake. The runescape game has updated many of times since SRL 4 was first made, the code structure does not fit well with the current interface, with the addition of git it is a perfect time to lean SRL into the future, like fixing an old car when the repairs would cost more than just buying a new car :)

Oh and git

Because, imo, it is far from completion. As I said above, the SRL include is being remade from head to toe, a new tree is being planted.. not just the branches trimmed :)

I'd rather have a completely SCAR or completely Simba version made, the compatibility slows down the entire progress imo, and was never a good idea in the first place. What works in SCAR might not work in simba and visa versa; mainly simply because it was designed tested and tweaked using one application that could yield different results than the other, and the feeling of uncertainty when running something that is supposed to go for hours/days isn't exactly the greatest feeling in the world. The syntax's are similar enough for them to compile in both, but intended functionality is another thing all together.

The language change is overkill, anything that someone wants to accomplish using the libraries available to them from SRL should be able to accomplish them in what we have now. Would ultimately introduce many new problems without solving hardly any of the current main ones.

What exactly about the code structure is bad? and like i said, functions that work now…work. If they work, then other than making them shorter (which afaik isn't very much possible for many of them whilst keeping them readable) i don't see the point in rewriting them. Then you have ones that may not work. Fixing them would normally just be part of a small update i would think. Adding new functions too, afaik, comes all the time through non devs at the very least.

So that to me, leaves code structure. As above, what about it is bad?
