DirectX Hooking

Now that JaGeX has come out with the DirectX game mode, why not try to hook it like it was said we could do with OpenGL?

Between these two, tutorials/threads seems like overall as SSRL we could have something fun here. I wouldn't mind starting this as a summer project, if anyone is interest. I think it would be fun. We could keep it in SSRL for now and have something as a nice little perk in here.

Now I don't know C++ like Pascal but I have taken classes on it, so I know enough (i believe) to start on this and learn the little things while I go.

If you're interested or have any sort of comment please post.

Hooking into DirectX isn't too hard, but I'm not sure why you'd want to do it. :)

E: Oh, you mean for a reflection-alike system. I was thinking about capturing the graphics.

How would it be similar to reflection? Wouldn't you just be analyzing the data sent to be displayed on the screen?

You would be able to see the polygons in 3d space rather than in a rendered 2d projection.

Capturing the graphics -> Saving the screen to an image.

That doesn't really answer the question. From what I can tell, there are not any similarities between capturing the graphics in order to save the screen to an image and reflection.

Right. So what Simba does to copy the client screen does not differ from reflection either? What I was saying is that the current BitBlt() methods don't work on DirectX / OpenGL windows, and that's what I thought he meant, to hook into the DirectX / OpenGL drawing buffer and read from that.
