Whenever I plug in my iPod, it works fine and normal, but my external HD appears pretty much empty (I can still see the folders I made, but when I open them, nothing is inside) and sometimes even if files do appear, when I click them it says the don't exist or something.
I've googled this a few times, but nothing I found helped/worked. :fiery:

First thing i thought of: If you used a program to jailbreak your ipod touch it may have installed "libusb". This program can mess with other external drives EX: Zune HD, Ext hard drives, etc. I don't know if your ipod is an ipod touch or something else. Also, make sure your external harddrive is plugged into an adequate power source(Back of the computer). The problem could possilby be that the ipod being plugged in is sapping the power needed to run you HDD and not allowing it to run properly. Just my 2 cents.

iPod is iPod video, no hacks.
External HD plugs into wall for power.

Huh. Check HDD for errors when you plug in your ipod? See if you get any error messages.

When I run error check on HD with iPod plugged in it says 'Windows was unable to complete the disk check'.
I'll unplug iPod and try again.

Is your ipod fully charged? That works for me usually, or I restart my comp

So you experience the same problem too sometimes griff?
No, my battery was on red when I last tried. And I put in iPod soon after I turned the computer on so don't think restart will do much.

Yeah, the same thing has happened to me. I plug my ipod into my dock before plugging it into the computer usually so I don't get things like that, and it usually works. Sometimes it takes a few restarts of the ipod while its plugged in too.

Disk Checked both iPod and External HD.
iPod is charged/not hacked.
Reset iPod a couple of times while it was plugged into comptuer.
Still, when I plug iPod into comptuer, all of the folders on external appear empty.

Are they both using USB 2.0 ports, or is the HD using a 1.0 port?
EDIT: Woot 10th post

Older External HD's do. Have you tried stopping all Apple services then plugging in the HD? Maybe it's a driver issue (Reinstall them both maybe? No clue sounds weird though o.O)
