SRL Archive - Help

Recently i saw some pk videos on youtube when kids kill kids in rs because they DDSOSed him.

link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fraUE1MkKAs&feature=related

Could some one explain me first what its like ? DDOSing ? and dont be a smartass and give me a wikipedia link or such :p My english isnt that great so try to get it simple.

I also want your opinion about this and what the consequenties are / can be. Like i saw some comments from kids who said you get the FBI on you. Have people here experience with this :p ? Or have somebody saw a thread on a random forum about this ?

I really didnt knew this kind of things worked on RS so i am quiet schocked :o

Oh, so now I know why kids are crying "omg u fagit ddosers lol" when the RS servers lag. From what I've seen on those videos it has absolutely nothing to do with DDoS, most likely just abusing some glitch in the game.

Well they let them lagg out so they wont eat. I saw different methods on youtube. Many are just on private servers but this one was on the real RS. Will Jagex ban you for this ? Is it 100% detectable for Jagex ?

I dont know how it really works and I am a bit curious. Not that I am planning to try it out just because Its quite interesting.

People log onto IRC and a group of people get their IP and ping them.

If u get to some gay ass clan's vent and are from another clan they'll kb u and ddos u for top gp..

No, you build your own botnet and then just give the zombie machines a command to ping some IP.

Actually most don't use botnets, they use the plenty of scripts SwiftKit gives you to DDOS you, though it's not an actual DDOS. DDOSing is essentially "flooding" someones connection with pings so nothing can get in or out, which cuts off their connectivity. Usually a botnet, but most of these people just use the scripts provided.

That's a DOS. DDOS requires multiple computers.

Which is what I said.

I thougt you said this:

Getting a group of people to ping is a bit different then building a botnet :)

Lol @ people who think a ICMP PING will do shit to take down a person's connection. Unless of course their router REPLIES to ICMP, then they are just a dumbass (same applies to anyone who has a site that replies to ICMP PING).

GoF is right, doubt people are going to try to attack some people in RS like that, nor would they attack a gameserver.

inb4 people ask me about my (nonexistant) botnet, due to Wizzykins implying I had one at an IRC thread, because the IRCop said so. The IRCop is lacking ANY proof at all of this accusation.

@Harry, since you seem so knowledgeable in this subject, please explain this.

Removed.

I was on a server that was getting continuously attacked, and when I saw that message, I thought 'hmm' why dont I just ask this mother fucker.

There was lots of other messages I just found that one to be the most interesting.

Lol noidea, you're dumb.

Good job falling for an OBVIOUS joe-job attack.

What I wanted to ask is why your name was on it.
Obviously tarinishing your reputation has already been done in the past.

Why should I know/why should I care? Probably a disguised personal-army attack.

Either way, good job helping whoever's goal it is to attack me and spread my info around on the Interbutts.

Not to mention that it's probably even an IRCop of Rizon who is spamming it.
I come to this concussion for a few reasons:
1) He posted the same info onto another IRC network I was on, and harassed the IRCops to get me KLined there as well. The IRCop told him to piss off.
2) He has control of KLines. He can easily disable the proxy filter for a few seconds to come in and spam about me.
3) He refuses any contact with me. I ask about the ban on the only way to contact the IRCops outside of the network (their forums), and they ban my account and IP Ban me.
4) He has no proof/basis for my ban, and refuses to show anyone this proof that he claims to have.

Haters 'gun hate.

How come you're the one to get into this ?

Also, that sorta makes me want to email you now Harry >.>

You should care because that someone are giving you a bad reputation (and giving your email address to random ppl, that is if the email even is yours)

Uh, because someone is posting my dox here? :duh:

If your name was being posted here and people were accusing you of stuff, wouldn't you reply?

You obviously provocated this attack. You must've pissed someone off/scammed/flooded…etc.

You know what I mean :/

Lol, no. What makes you think that an attack needs a "reason"?

Well why wouldn't I be targetted, or someone else ?

You always happen to be in these situations though : /

You don't know the situation, you have no right to comment. This spam has been following me around on all IRC networks I frequent.

Lol wat. fyi, he has right to comment

Keep in mind that the youtube link i gave is from the year 2007 so its some time ago already. I dont know if this still happends today on RS.

Perhaps you randomly attack people for no reason, but people with common sense / who are not skiddies don't do this.

Back to the topic:
How would one even get someones ip in runescape to mass ping it? :p Besides, I don't think it would even cause noticeable lag.

hm yea weird =p Do you believe its possible ?

No its not, the data goes through the server and they do not pass other peoples ip's to the client as far as i know.

^ Well since it shows at the start, so I think there must be some way to get it. :p But I dunno.

I think its more like that they team up with some other who gets friends with someone and then tells him to visit some site which records the ip, then the guy asks the other if he wants to go pk and then tells hes friend to come and kill him, they must have a botnet to do that shit.

I never said you didn't. You're just around skiddies a lot, thus bringing this kind of stuff over yourself. YOU keep giving everyone your phone number, no wonder it appears on online forums and falls in the `wrong' hands.

Who have I given it to? (except obviously my domain registar)
