wassssssup, im looking to buy an ipod touch at the US next week and i have a couple of questions
is it worth it?
is there a new generation coming soon?if so, should i wait for it or no

Well, because the lastest firmware doesn't fix anything besides the jailbreak exploit :p

And why not get a Zune HD? Better battery life, brah. And if you're not planning on jailbreaking it, I assume you don't want the iPod Touch for the apps, which is currently the only better thing about the iPod Touch over the Zune HD.

So basically, jailbreak it or get a Zune HD.

You don't WANT to update when you jailbreak..only if they have a jailbreak for the latest firmware..

There are so many free apps, and so many paid apps going on sale and becoming free every once in a while that not jailbreaking it can still get you hundreds of pretty fun games. It is not necessary to jailbreak your iphone/ipod touch and fill your device with fun games and apps.

lol, im not so fond of zunes or any other mp3 players because it'll get boring. (like i will be excluded for my zune while everyone has an ipod touch) buying something different messed me up too many times, ill stick with ipod touch and jailbreak it then

Not jailbreaking the ipod touch = tons of free apps = still more apps than the Zune HD.

Edit: And I watched that video and there is nothing special about the Zune HD. The Ipod Touch can do just about everything except the radio tuner, but I'm sure there is an app for that somewhere.

But the good ones are paid. Zune HD has better battery life and doesn't look like a homosexual, by the way. And it's free to make apps for the HD.

Don't get the iTouch/iPhone, my friend has one and said they are terrible. You're probably better off to go and buy a generic MP3 player from an electronics shop.

There are heaps of free and good programs/games you can get on the computer so don't worry about spending 300 dollars just so you can have a mp3 player and apps. You can get other cheap and reliable MP3 players for around 50 dollars.

They have some very useful apps on the ipod touch, I mainly use my ipod for the browser, VERY convenient.

Yeah nothing special, it just has a beautiful AMOLED screen, HD playback, better battery life, better sound quality.

If I was buying the ipod touch just because it has apps, I would slap myself and buy a smartphone.

i have a samsung link :) i lost my 8gb memory card so its either my parents buy me another memory card or an ipod touch.
i only know how to put music in the link but there isnt any playlist, and i don't know how to put games :( (to download them i gotta buy off the phone)

I would never let 1 person influence my opinion on whether or not to buy a product. One should do some research and read several comprehensive reviews.

I'm pretty sure the video said that the quality of the screens was pretty similar and that you couldn't even upload your own videos to the Zen HD or something. I might have to watch it again but I don't recall hearing about any drastic quality advantages going to the Zen HD

If I care enough I would go check out some more reviews but since I don't plan on buying either product, whatever.

Oh, I thought the HD was AMOLED buts its only OLED, still. A OLED screen smacks a TFT screen around.

I personally have a S9 and the AMOLED it has is gorgeous. Smart phones also are using AMOLED screens now, like the Nexus One and HTC incredible (which in my opinion would be better buys than the ipod touch if you wanted applications if either can be used with your service and you need a phone).

It means there are more add-ons available for it, more people that can help you if you have a problem, and more apps available for it. I bet iPods have more speaker systems designed for them, more apps made for them, more covers, etc. etc. because of their popularity. Having a wider selection in all these extras lets you choose the one that fits your needs best instead of choosing the lesser of two evils.

First and foremost, the apple app store has reached a point where new submissions are gradually declining. So the apple ipod may have a large collection of apps right now (useless and useful) the Android phones are now catching up even faster.

Also I fail to see how more people owning something means it is easier to find solutions to problems. If the customer service is so bad that you would rather find a solution on the internet, then I'd rather not buy that product at all.

Also I fail to see why having a more popular product gives a advantage as far as speaker systems go. Last I checked speakers have similar analog plugs?

What about Linux? :3 It's not nearly as popular as Macintosh or Microsoft (incorrect sentences ftw), but it is quite easily much better than both. And I'd say that there are more add-ons for Linux (with all of the distributions for it). But this is about iPod Touches. :p

Gradually declining. And who says that the Android app store won't start gradually declining in a month or so? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Also, I meant help from your friends or learning cool tricks or something like that. I didn't mean full blown customer support because your phone is malfunctioning.

Some of them are custom built for the iPod I believe and therefore fit its shape nicely. I guess you can plug any device into it, but most of them are marketed as iPod accessories and might be more compatible.

Are you using Linux as your primary operating system right now? And are you saying more programs work for Linux than for Microsoft Windows or Mac OS?

Also, have you owned both a Zune HD and an iPod Touch long enough to make some kind of judgment on either of them?

I bought the 8GB version over 3 months ago and I <3 it. Also, with the latest jailbreaking tool (Spirit, www.spiritjb.com ) the latest firmware (3.1.3) is also jailbreakable.
