If I had enough words to praise you all, I would. As it is, You have excelled yourselves to the point of speechlessness. When saying this I do not only mean those who are active now, as SLs, but also those who have come before and drifted away already.
The PMs did a great job, and people such as JAD, Cazax and Bobbohobbo had a great impact on this project. Also of course, not to forget marpis, who has moved on to the developer ranks; See how fast we find those trees? Thank you marpis.
Those who are still active - I shall not praise you individually, as we do not want any bloated heads around here ;)
As it is, I will be unable to be as involved as I have been lately with MSI. And for that I own you an apology. As the 'overseer' of this project it is my job to keep an open eye on all issues; This, of course requires time. Not only reading, but also planning, thinking and discussing, and I'm about to enter my exam period (First exam on the 28th!).
I'm extremely glad you guys managed to pump out the first release before my exams actually started. It was a great pleasure to guide you, oversee MSI, and do everything I've been doing.
"The greatest general is only as good as his soldiers" - Julius Caesar. And I must say MSI is great.
Now, enough rambling. We have a project to run here.
Administrative Points:
I'll still be around on MSN and Reading the forums, so anything that needs an admin, you can of course still come to me.
Moderating:
Coh3n and Naum are MSI Mods. That should leave you with enough established power to develop MSI, both as a script and as a project.
NCDS, Blumblebee, if you'd have a use for mod powers, drop me a PM.
Zyt3x, you haven't done an awful lot compared to the rest of the SLs, but feel free to drop me a PM as well.
With your mod powers, whether you have them or you'll ask Naum/Coh3n for a couple of favours (or any SRL Staff), I'm hoping that you'll be able to coordinate MSI into its full potential.
Some Longish Term Ideas I had for MSI:
- JM involvement: This will be extremely effective with GIT
- Member involvement: Check Short term ideas for suggestion on how to do this.
- Modular Coding: This will literally give the ability to plug scripts in.
- Learning: I hoped you guys would learn more about scripting and Project Management
This is also a learning process for me, but as I have some more knowledge on both (after all I do management in uni >.>) I was hoping to pass down this knowledge and that MSI as a separate, small group would give you the grounds for developing both as managers and as scripters.
- Teamwork:
The teams that form around SRL are usually very small and have a lot to do with affinity. Better team skills would be great around SRL. I think you guys here are managing quite well, although it is still somewhat small, but it is relatively big compared to the usual scripting groups that form amongst developing ranks (eg Zeph, RM, Nava ; Wizzup, Ray ; N1ke, EC)
- Greatness: Individually we do great scripts. Together? They could be extraordinary!
- Continuity:
This is perhaps the most important point. I've given MSI somewhat the same structure as SRL, in the hopes that this project will never die. There is no 'Leader'. Everyone of you has the possibility to drive this project forwards, and the potential to do so. If a decision is made, or a point is refuted, it is done so for a reason, not because "I'm in charge here". Want to drive the project forwards? Put more time into it!
Shorter Term Ideas:
- Money Making scripts.
MSI already has the core. Any script can pretty much be done and just simply plucked into MSI. Cowhide tanning in Alkharid atm is 200k/h. I couldn't imagine a better group to make such a script than MSI. Getting everyone involved = Better, Faster; Possibly flawless.
With a group like MSI, and a core like the one we have, it would be very possible to pump out scripts to match with game updates to money making methods. This would definitely get some more people involved and running the script.
And that is pretty much all I have to say. I'll be around. Up to you guys to discuss it now.
Remember you do not need to be nominated leader to lead. Just lead by example.
David
