You can find the Simba installer and all the information you need (hopefully) here: http://wizzup.org/simba/
We will soon open the Simba testers forums to all SRL members, so you can read and post there as well.
Small feature list:
- Auto updates. Simba will try to keep you fully up to date with regards to both SRL and Simba. You won't need svn or git for it, Simba should do it all for you.
- Developer friendly. Simba tries to be easy to use, but also a good program for power users. It has code hints, code completion, and a function list of all the functions in: Simba, Includes used by your script, and the script self.
- (Fully) compatible with SRL 4. Most of your scripts should work without much changes with respect to SRL. There are a few caveats, but most are (or soon will be) documented, so making your script work Simba shouldn't be too hard.
- Extensible, you can write your own extensions for Simba, and integrate them into the IDE. (See Extensions/srl.sex) for an example.
Things to come:
- Script Manager & Installer. This allows you to add your script to the Simba script repository, so that every other user can download it in only a few clicks.
Final notes: (Read this!)
- To enable the SRL Updater and Installer, go to View -> Extensions and enable the "srl.sex" extension. (Tick the Enabled: box)
- The SRL Updater and Installer is only for the people who don't use svn/subversion. If you want to change stuff in SRL yourself and use Subversion, then disable the SRL Updater and Installer. It is disabled by default.
- The site http://wizzup.org/simba/ requires a browser with HTML 5 support. This means that all recent browsers except ANY version of Microsoft Internet Explorer will view the site correctly. Even though you can theoretically use IE to download Simba, we highly discourage you do so. In fact, we suggest you switch to a good browser, like Firefox.
We welcome all your suggestions and criticism! (Flaming too, up to a certain point. :) )
