Hi fellow SRLers!
Me and jimthesoundman have been working on a website that will help out merchenters.
More information is on the home page: http://www.runealert.com/

if your feeling generous, feedback on how you feel about the site. (e.g. pros, cons, improvements) would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

I can't help but think that your "User Comments" are made up, lol…

But anyway, it's a pretty sweet utility, I don't find it the best since you don't really know when an item you want to sell is at it's peak without looking at the graph (at least I don't)

That said, could you add the utility of scanning the graph and seeing when it levels off?

Yes, this is a beta test, so we need ppl to try it out and make sure it works properly. There is a limit of one free search per user, but if you use the feedback form and send us a message and say you are from SRL, we'll bump up your limit to 10 searches. We need to make sure that everything works properly so please give us good feedback on the RuneAlert forums, not here please.

@Brain: The point is that if you want a Whip, for instance, but you only have two mil to spend, you can set up an alert. That way you don't have to keep checking the price each day, if the price drops down to that level you will get an alert, even if you aren't playing RS that day. Obviously I've missed out on some great bargains because I didn't check the price of items on a certain day. I've also failed to notice how high some prices had soared and then didn't manage to sell my stock when the price was high, as I just wasn't paying attention that day. So this is kind of a failsafe, if you want to make sure you don't miss out on something that you might want to buy or sell. Obviously if you are merchanting an item you will already be checking the price every day and looking at the charts, so this isn't really made for that. It's more for a wishlist sort of setup.

Reading the Grand Exchange charts is as much an art as a skill, so it would be impractical and misleading for a website to try to analyze the chart and tell you when to buy or sell. If it were that easy, there would be dozens of guys on Wall St doing it to charts on the stock exchange and making a trillion dollars a day. So we don't have an plans or desires to add something like that to the website, but thanks for the suggestion.

The idea is very well thought of, though I think the cons of this great utility is that if someone wants Zammy Armor for example and wants it when it reaches 3 mil, he'll need to wait about 10 years or more? The prices according to the graphs show that the armor is only getting more expensive.

So I find that a big problem.

Other than that - fix the "On the Grand Exchange" to "In the Grand Exchange".

I'll be glad to help out, whether in the idea, writing feedback, participating in the forum and even in some coding. (I know a bit PHP, mostly html and css)

This is a pretty sweet idea, but graphs are a must have I think for the price checker. This would solve the problem mysterious brought up as well, because people would see that it's unreasonable to buy Zammy for 3 mil.

Other than that it's pretty cool!

The graph seems broken to me, when I try and display the images it gives me a 404. .Also instead of a drop down menu that you have to scroll through to find your item you should make it searchable as well, so people can just type stuff in :)

If you got those added I think it would be amazing. The whole concept is great.

tables for layout, http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.runealert.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 the design is slightly, but not majorly related to the runescape theme, and it's too wide for me :(

despite that, I think it's a good idea. :)

EDIT:
you may want to stick to one form style, contact us and register both have a totally different form layout
there's a decent gap between register and forum on the navbar, is this intentional?

EDIT^2:
it seems you do want the two lines under register and forum links.. hmm.
as I hate bad markup, I'd revamp it for you if you want, and maybe we could come to some agreement of a more RS centric theme?

Needs some more colour/runescape based theme! ^^
When I tried the ring of stone it missed a few of the images (not correct image location)

I love the idea and hope it goes well ;)
