Seem to me that we are ready (or nearly so) for the first release.
The future of MSI:
- Release First version
- Open up MSI SVN Forums
- Wait for people's feedback on their testing
And then… there are several paths to follow.
0. Keep working on the core.
1. Keep improving the Woodcutter.
2. Start directing the next part of the script. (Miner?)
3. Add more cutting locations.
Each of these paths has a lot of work to be put into it. Which is why I believe we'll need to get more SRL Members involved, but we'll have to do so in an organized way.
Previous MSI projects have failed. We, with MSI Phoenix, finally made it work. If we can keep up our standards of working, then MSI will be able to go on, to fullfil our ambitions for it.
I might set up 3 more MSI subforums - Core, Woodcutting, Miner, for the three paths to be worked on seperately. These would be open to all SRL Members.
My basic idea is you guys (SLs&PMs) will keep these private forums (I might merge PMs general forum into this one) and then there'll be those 3 subforums to get everyone else involved :)
This will be a lot of work.
Don't underestimate it. We're taking it step by step, but especially now that you guys have gained some team scripting experience and developing experience you'll find it much easier than you would have at first.
Now, as SLs you can either make a choice:
1. All SLs work on all parts
2. Each SL chooses a part to work on.
Remember that now you won't necessarily be developing lots of code, (you may), but you can also expect SRL member input.
And you can choose to tackle each path one by one (core + woodcutting, core + mining), (i do think the core will need constant reviewing).
And finally,
Should Phoenix be released to SRL Members or Juniors?
My vote goes for members. Give them something special.

I think we all the SL's should work on all parts of MSI, whether they choose to work more on one project, or a little bit of everything. Also, I vote for following path 2. I think it would be better to get more scripts going.
I also think that we should release to Members first, but if there isn't a lot of activity, I think we should release to Jr's (just to use the script, not actually develop it).
That being said, I still think there are several things that need to be finished before we actually release. See the this
here.
I agree with mainly what coh3n said :p.
Merging the forums sound really nice. However, I think that we should build on what we have created together and expand it for other locations. You can have a separate SL to work on this, actually getting SL's to take what they fancy would be :spot:.
This is because others may have expertise in other areas and might be motivated more by what they are familiar with. And, hell, even if SLs do 'nip into' and contribute in other people's work it's only for the best, right? Henceforth I believe in a mix of 1 and 2, something like a Laissez-faire show :p.
Yeah: I think we should take an outlook on this just as POMS did - restrict development to members and highly-capable juniors, and also release the actual version of the script to the jr members. This is predominantly because members are fewer (were fewer) than Jr Members, that way we can get more diverse feedback :). But, your point is still valid about giving members something special ;). So I guess there should be a vote on this issue.
I think we're ready for more work. The thing is now we have will have more people contributing and things wont be as 'hard' as they are now. But hey, bring on the challenge!
Rep+ for what we're going to do in the future, and the issues we're going to have to deal with. Was nice to bring this to everyone's attention .
EDIT: Yeah still quite a bit of work to do..
I like the idea of having separate forums for members to post in about MSI related thing's. However, I would hope that the section would be closely watched/moderated as I can only imagine the amount of worthless threads that will pop up in there.
I also agree that SL's should work on the project as a whole. We already have very few contributing SL's/PM's, even after adding more, so we kind of need to all work on everything.
Definitely release to members. Like Naum said, if we don't get sufficient feedback from members, which I doubt will be the case, then we can move to jr's.

I think SL's should take certain area's of the scripts section. Although it is more beneficial to have us all working everywhere, I think certain sections would provide more leadership to the rest of the members attempting to help. Consulting your specific leader in the area your working, as well as having a better way to organize scripts, maintain the core and add specifics where needed.
Also, I think we should do either path 2 or 3. I think that we need to show people that this is MSI and that multiple locations is a possibility and can be properly implemented. I viewed our current chopper as more of a "look what we can do" and a not so important or useful script.
with that said, with whatever path we take I will support it fully :)

I like that the other members can contact an SL that's specific to that project, but I don't think they should only be working on that project. Maybe just have their main focus on that project. I think all should put our input and work on everything.

I agree 100%. We should still all contribute in every area, but I think that we should have specific area's to major in.

I like it. That way the other members have an "expert" on the project they can confront if needed.

This does seem to be generally the best idea to me.

I agree.
I didn't think of it like that before but after reading Blum's post, I like the idea.
