Macroing != Perma Ban!

Warning

You have recently committed a ban offence under the Macroing rule. If you commit the offence again you will be banned for an extra 9 days, for a total of 21 days.

It seems like I was banned yesterday. I haven't autoed on my account in a few days, but I guess it takes them some time to catch us. I *might* have been reported or might not, but either way I had been testing out a new FollowRock function and IsRockThere which weren't stable (duh, newly written), and so my slave ended up clicking a bit too often. Either way, it's a temp ban!

It's appealable, although I probably won't bother. But this seems to be good news for us!

Is it because they are unsure if it was a script? Are they more lenient? Is it somehow related to the closing down of the other bots?

Your thoughts on the matter?

Yeah that's really odd, haven't seen this (at least I don't think this has happen in any of the hundreds of bans at RsBot) that's awesome.

Also, IF they are unsure and just decided to ban you temporarily (which I believe is the case) then why not appeal it! I think it would be best to appeal, say you were tried or just acting retarded and clicking a lot/crazily, or you let your younger cousin play for a few minutes and then came back on :p. I know they sound generic and lame, but if they are unsure, they will have to believe you :p.

I remember getting a 3 day ban a long time ago before I ever used cheats… I think it's because I was using RCX custom client (easy world switcher) and they gave me a 3 suspension… which is really stupid and lead to my account eventually being perma banned for 3+ years.

You're lucky, I've never had this happen to me. IIRC, Nava has had an account temporarily banned something like 10 times.

A while ago (Summer 09ish?) Jagex gave 10 day temp bans to all P2P Macroers ;)

I wasn't saying he was banned for 10 days, I was saying he was banned 10 different times. I'm pretty sure more than half were for macroing.

Yeah, I understood. By 10 day I just meant to say they were temporary, and I forgot to mention that many accounts at the time were getting several chances (10 day bans) before being perm-banned.

Apparently I chose to macro at the wrong time then. :p

Narcle had enough temp bans on his tank back then to write a trilogy of books and movies for all of them, lol

I like the "if you commit this offense again" clause. That means that you can commit the offense again.

That must be new, likely as a result of the crackdown on large-scale bots.

But they haven't actually done anything (other than temporarily close down the domain rsbot.org) yet, so I doubt that's the reason.

I remember hearing a while back that there were people who received temp bans for using simple autoclickers and the like. Perhaps that's what they assumed you were doing.

Blows the theory of P2P resulting in less bans ?

Jah, you know, I really don't care, but I find it so Freaking ironic, that when I attempt to push the limits on things I think should get an account banned, and nothing happens, but yet when I am so gingerly careful, only to have Dumb Luck …and then only to have my friends get lucky breaks on their accounts :p

yh… I think KBot is pretty much untouchable, IIRC they stuffed their shit with "If you're one of [jagex lawyer etc etc] you may not proceed"…

Not really, just one example versus all other F2P bots that did get banned. This is the first time I ever hear of F2P getting a temporary ban, but it's nothing new to P2P.

The theory was blown by Jagex when they announced that  :p
