i have windows seven 64 bit and just downloaded scar preleases and did everything to get scar running…
but when i open scar, after waiting one minute or so, it closes and scar.exe is deleted from my folder.
then, i have to reupdate my folder to get scar.exe back…
but then i open scar for a minute and it is gone again…
help?

also, i turned of mcafee so its not that..

Mcafee is pissing me off because it does not have an exception list.
any suggestions on what to do?

You have to turn it all off. Have it turn back on at restart. Or uninstall it and get a new one (unless you paid for it, then you should think first).

just did…. right click and prssed run as administrator… and i was like omg its working!!!
but then boom!!!gone.
idk why it worked longer than usual though
edit: also, im not sure but do you need another version of scar for this one to run?
like do you need to download scar of freddy1990.com, or should this scar work by itself?

Nope. You don't get anything from freddy1990.com.

You can't turn off McAfee. McAfee only turns off it it wants to.

Ignore McAfee for now, I suggest restarting your computer, then installing SCAR to anew location somewhere like C:\Users\Public\Documents
Don't run it, restart first. Then run it. 7 has a tendency to be weird.

McAfee doesn't turn off at the users request (I know, this is a problem I had a few months ago on a friends computer when I was repairing something). If I recall correctly, I had to disable all start-up entries and services, turn it off via the System Tray and restart (of course, this will lead to an insecure (if it already isn't) when your security software is disabled). Although, this is of no use as once McAfee is re-enabled, it will delete scar.exe again once ran.

I suggest using the alternative Simba ;) Search around the forums, I'm sure you'd find a thread dedicated to it's "selective-public release" ;)

I borrow the thread. Have a problem with scar too, but it doesnt open att all for me.

I have just installed the 3.22 and when I click to start it a windows box pops up and say "scar.exe has stopped working." "There was a problem" blah blah.

I'v tried to restart comp, open scar as administrator, firewall off, UAC off. I really hate vista, always brings problems… I ran scar 3.15b before and that worked perfectly.
So if that version is still workning with the scripts, is it possible to download it somewhere?

get the 3.23 pre. follow a guide here on how to get it. use IceFire's or Coh3n's guides for it. hopefully, the newest version might help you.

It says "Failed to initialize properly". Any ideas?

I click scar.exe and scar doesn't start at all. Instead a windows box pops up that says
"scar.exe has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution for the problem."


If I let it search a second box pops up and says:
"A problem was that the program stopped working properly. The program will close and you will be notified if there is a solution."

If I cancel the first windows box a new box named "BASSFLAC:scar.exe - Programerror" pops up saying:
"Failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click on OK to close the program."

My vista language is swedish so i tried to translate as good as I could…

Run fixscar.exe. :) That should fix it.

You're missing the .dlls that are needed to run SCAR, and fixscar.exe will download them.

I ran fixscar, but no difference at all, still the same problem. How long should this .dlls file take to download? When I run fixscar.exe I can hardly catch a glimpse of the downloadingbox before it closes. Can it be downloaded that fast?
Firewall is still off.
I searched for dlls in my scar map and couldn'd find anything.
