Changes to Scripts in Members

Basically here it is:

Would you guys like to have SRL Member scripts organized the same way JM scripts are?

When we changed it, quite some people were against it. At the time the staff thought it was a good move, and now, I genuinely like the way it is!

So, what is your opinion?

Should we keep the categories or have it the same way as JMs?

This should be a poll :p
I say have it the same way as JMs. Looks more organized imo.

Who voted the third? It's funny. I was against the change at the previous vote but after the nice little image tags it's better. So, yes, change!

I voted it since I'm neutral. I don't generally use the scripts, nor am I in favor of one format over another (each has its advantages, but I can't decide which ones I would value more).

I think we should have it laid out in the scheme of the Junior Member script section, as it would be much easier to find the most recent scripts. It would be more accessible, in my view, after people get used to it.
Thinking about it though, there may be some problems to this. For example, if someone is trying to locate an outdated script for knowledge, reference and what-have-you; they may find it much easier with the layout we have now rather than to adapt with the new one.
I guess a compromise has to be made between these :).

The last one should've been "I don't care, but I want to vote anyway!"

Fixed :)

Naum: They'd just go to the last page ;)

Or click the icon, if they remember what kind of script it was and then go to the last page of the icon ;)

No! I do not like the jr Members section. I prefer the member section. It's so much easier to access and see what you're getting.

Use the scroll thing at the bottom of the page, click, scroll to the forums, and viola: the scripts are there.

Please dont change

I voted the 3rd option, minus the "but I want to vote anyway"

The entire purpose of the current JM system is to see which ones are newest… it's much easier for member's to be arranged traditionally because not that many member's script are active.

Um, Option #4..combining both and having categories represented with icons :)

Sure, I don't see whats wrong with it.

I much prefer the old system, but can see the advantages of the newer. Would be good to have the option of either, which wouldnt be too hard to implement for someone good at php…just a new boolean in user options, and a little hacking of the viewforums.php or equivalent file?

Well, this would mean Wizzup would need to get involved, and I don't really know how his schedule is right now or in the near future…

Also, RAM, what's the use of having categories + icons? Just because the icons look nice?

I think that it's a bit too much hasle for what it's worth in that case, although it could be done…

Well, you have to add icons to existing categories and scripts already ? Or it's already set up in Admin Control and small changes to impliment ?…I like icons, but I donøt think they are as convenient as the categories and sub categories…with icons, you have to search through a thread where the icons are unlabled…categories are spelled out for you..I'd just like to see a merger of the two..wouldn't that be simpler ? for the people that like the existing categories and are use to it, it's still there, but now you have 2 ways to search through posts..via icons or text ?

Not really, because each Icon would only appear inside of the category, meaning that it would just be there for the looks.

Also, as the current icons link to JM scripts a whole new icon set would have to be set up in Admin CP. (If we choose to use the icons at all it'll have to be set up).

So it's quite a lot of work for something that would only slightly improve the looks.

I'm happy enough with keeping it as categories, I just don't find the compromise to be very efficient.

Also, Most SRL Member scripts are outdated, so being able to see which ones are active straight away would be quite an advantage in my opinion.

Well, can we at least label the link icons thread ? I find that to be very confusing…right brain reads images, left brain reads text, so if there was both, I could see in Stereo :p

JM way..
As it'll not be one hell of a mess then.

People can't find what they want?, learn to search.. fix'd.

I like the way the SRL Member section is right now. I don't think it needs to be changed, we don't have enough flow of scripts to really need the 'most recent/popular/up-to-date scripts at the top.

Seems like we'll be keeping the categories…

For those who haven't seen it, go to member scripts section and scroll down to woodcutting.

I think we'll be implementing that, because as RAM said, it's two different parts of the brain that interpret it.
