RSbot.org Taken Down by Jagex

Tis the day it has come,

Quote from RSbot twitter.

RSBot is currently down because of jagex.

They were trying to maintain the bot while keeping the website (Also, they were hitting records within the last week, 2 days ago they had the most online they had ever had with like 1.2k people on at once)

Will keep utd.

I was just about to post this :p

Twitter at http://twitter.com/rsbotorg/

If they stay down this time…Might be time to consider closing earlier than 2 weeks (10 days or so now?), since there would likely be a huge influx of users and therefore more attention from Jagex.

EDIT: Then again, there's still many other Java bots leechers would likely go to first, nevermind.

The bot still works, so you'll have to wait 4-5 days ;)

EDIT: Or it won't mean much, since the googlecode svn didn't get taken down. Maybe this will just keep new botters from coming.

Rsbot svn is still up. So, people can still bot/update.

Anyone reckon it'd be wise to invest in some generally autoed goods right now? Might be worth a wait to see how this unfolds…

EDIT: Rumor is that RSBot.org isn't going to come back for at least 6 months, if ever. I don't know if there's any truth to that; just what a few staff members on their IRC have been saying.

Hm if Jagex is the reason they're gone, they will probably be gone for good.

Thats sad, they had a really nice bot :]. Anyways.. maybe its just the domain thats shutdown, and they just return with a new name.

Less so because of RSbot and more so because of the upcoming exp weekend. That is, if you believe the merchants haven't already driven up the prices too far.

That was a couple weeks ago.

They were requested to sign an agreement which would result in a $1,500 fine, with $75,000 for each subsequent violation of said agreement. I don't know if they ever complied with that.

this also means there will be less of a variety of bots/scripts therefore targeting scar users would be easier for jagex, to a certain degree. So, extra human like scripts are a must now.

SRL has always been about extra human scripts, nothing to change there.
And not sure if they will be after us more, we are DEFINITELY not as widely used and we DO NOT charge ANY money from anyone to use our stuff. :]

But going private is a good idea.

I just mean, that in my opinion, we should increase the percent error of our scripts. We concentrate on humanlike movement and such, however, we forget percent error, which i believe we should start increasing such as misclicks, forgetting to take out items from bank and coming back for em, etc.

Stuff like this has been suggested over and over, and the response is pretty much always "it is up to the individual scripter to take such measures, not SRL."

Meh, unnecessary as its inefficient. But a lot of scripts have many forms of antiban etc. And this is kind of off topic anyways? Jagex shut down RsBot because they were illegal, profiting, etc.

Why did all of this talk about better antiban start!? :p HeHeHe
There macro detection systems the same, and I believe SCAR/SCAR scripts are just fine! Only 1 ban here in YEEEARS

Don't kid yourself ;) Metagen is right, from strictly an autoing point of view. Only the best scripters with the greatest amounts of time can make some of the things that reflection/BCEL can do in color. Even then it would likely be inferior.

@dorkythedork: Reflection is completely broken, since no one has been able to fix the TileToMS function (I suppose you could use it to walk, but it's not really worth using it if you're only able to harness 10% of its power).

Nava2

Guess what morons, those who populate RSBot generally have the IQ of a rock. Yeah, it takes 1 line of code to walk from lumbridge to varrock. Do you actually LEARN from doing that?

Are OOP concepts actually used in RSBot?

Why do you use those concepts when the game of runescape is actually formost linear in play. What is the point of using non-linear programming styles when the game play depicts otherwise?

Who fails now, hum?

By the way, 10$ says those who come from here go farther in life based on the fact that they learned more concepts than those at RSBot who learned for monetary reasons. We learn because we want to learn, and are facinated by it. We are in it for the *right* reasons.

So I think its great RSBot is down, it will show who is really key in this system of RS macroing.

Nobody said SRL sucks for not being able to do the things RSBot used to be able to. Everyone said that, in terms of autoing, RSBot was better. And finally, people who are going after Runescape bots likely do not have their future life in mind for whatever reasons (if you want to get a head start on your future when you're barely a teen, great; don't force everyone else to, not everyone is as smart and logical as you). I do respect your opinion that RSBot going down is good since it means only those who wish to enhance their intelligence by using more complex programming techniques will survive, but don't go calling us morons for giving an opinion coming from a different point of view.

Guys, trying to get someone to see the light won't work, so shut up, or at least take it to the debate section. Anyone that is smart enough to see it already sees it, and anyone that doesn't see it won't be able to no matter how much you try. The best thing you can do is go make your respective projects better, and let the projects speak for themselves.

hopefully there wont. but chances are that a lot of post-RSBot leechers will come over here and leech. thus i wish we made ourselves private ASAP (like now if possible :) ). but that is just my suspicion.

now i dont fully understand why people are still saying "RSBot is amazing!" Sure, it was a good bot, that is why so many ppl used it; that is why so many ppl leeched it. But what good do those comments do? If you are still all obsessed with RSBot, please go down with the ship and leave.

Current members are here for mainly one of two things: furthering their scripting ability using SRL, or wanting to be a part of the community (or both). When you still continue to praise RSBot (and say SRL sucks), it sounds like you are not here for either of the previous desires. If this is the case, please leave, for you will prolly hate it here.

I think we should keep in mind that SRL could be taken down for the same reasons as RSBot was taken down (judging from the iBot lawsuit documents). The only reason they went first is because they were creating a bigger dent on RS. My point here being is that don't put RSBot down just because they were closed down; the same thing could just as easily happen here.

If we really were afraid for this we wouldn't just close registration, we would close the forum. Apart from that, closing can only be seen as proof that we do violate the law, which we don't.
There are some reasons for closing registration I guess, but we are not closing because we are afraid to get sued. We're just going to change stuff under the hood. Forum restructures, big changes to SRL, the upcoming Simba project, etc. It is much easier to do with no newcomers all asking the same questions about the restructure until we're actually done with it.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. But, in that case, why are they able to take RSBot down and not SRL? I don't see any major differences, other than a (slightly?) different technique to perform the exact same task ('slightly' refers to reflection vs BCEL). Or is the difference in methodology so great that it changes everything?

I think BCEL is client hacking, and must be some sort of copyright issue. Or maybe they can be sued for "loss of revenue" like Glider, if I remember correctly.

I'm guessing that the fact their scripts and such are being sold, at least some, can become an issue. I don't know much about the laws regarding this issue, but I heard that the reason goldsellers in WoW couldn't be sued was because they were just 'selling' their own time spent on the game, and not actual game-related software/items. How true this is, I do not know.

SRL isn't profit oriented. We don't allow script sales, we don't allow pixel sales, we don't allow anything money related.
No client hacking involved.
We don't deobfuscate or crack their code.
We don't use our knowledge of their code to our advantage. (SMART is not part of SRL, only an extension)

Seems like a huge difference to me.

With all do respect Jagex knows about this community or actually 'Scar' a bit too well. Since three years ago, before I used Scar- And didn't know it was so great and… yata yata - I met one of the Jagex Mod, I still have the screenshot - And asked him about Runescape doing things about scar. He said they know about it and are working on it. If they didn't close any forum - it just means it's perfectly legal. They can only close ilegal sites which disobey the law, their rules can be disobeyed in sites. Look at cheat engine for example…

Anyhow, it seems to me that Jagex are more motivated to cut cheating communities down that use client hacking. I guess they're not too concerned with pixel clicking.

True, but it doesn't seem that significant in the grand scheme of things; the owners weren't profiting off of that.

Normally I would bring up reflection, but I suppose all of this is one of the reasons you never officially supported it.

Even so, I don't see a major difference in the final result of RSBot vs. SRL; automating tasks in RS. And, if I recall correctly (can't find the document now), in the iBot lawsuit, they were primarily focusing on the detrimental effects autoing (in general) causes to RS. Do they not have the grounds by which to go after any autoing community, no matter their methods?

By the way, I'm not looking for an argument in case anyone feels that way, I'm looking for answers to this part of all these events that I don't understand.

True, but it doesn't seem that significant in the grand scheme of things; the owners weren't profiting off of that.

VIP sections, they do.

Hi, what a great few arguements have been thrown around. I respect the amount of decency the staff here have, as others have strictly thought of this as a good way to go
"We rock".

The site has gone down because its a Civil Case, not a Criminal Case.
It was announced that yes discussion of the bot can be upheld, but Jagex have pulled some very cheap tactics in this case.
They also brought up the fact that Qauters has profited from the VIP's on the site which was used against him.

The court had told him to shut down the site while the case is being solved, if he were to NOT uphold it he'd be paying in access of 1000 usd every day.

While others have mentioned that this site has got a Market section,it is not as bad as Sythe, who are known as the Market leaders as of late.

Once again, i won't be choosing sides, but im quiet certain the few people that might recognise my name would know i was a Staff member on the site.

Well, now that rsbot is down (or soon will be) the prices of coal WILL GO UP SOON. No botters = less coal/less coal being sold at low prices = only legits selling coal at regular mid + prices. Seems to me like an IDEAL time to buy coals!

Scar is for learning purposes. Rsbot is NOT. Speljohan said it himself, that its a "leechers bot". People had more bans from Rsbot then Scar the past year.

I really don't see how that is applicable at all… I bet you less then 200 people actually botted with scar within the past year :/ Even if we have activity here, some of it is people just checking out the community, and another half just can't get it setup to work, so they just leave. So the ratio of using a bot to ban can not be compared to the two at all, as rsbot is used on a much grander scale.

Also, on terms of botting, my all around cooker I made for scar worked flawless for days, I implemented tpa's and such, but I post it for people, and it fails. I make the same cooker for rsbot, anyone can use, and runs for much longer.

Also, you guys are comparing rsbot to srl in different terms, rsbot was made strictly for runescape, not for general programming, you can't say rsbot was causing dumb people to not go further in life, the purpose of rsbot is not to be successful or to really improve programming language. (It has helped my knowledge of Java increasingly, as I look for deeper Java methods to make my scripts good.) The purpose of Rsbot is to auto at runescape. Period.

Lastly, the reason that srl can't be taken down on measures is pretty much because rsbot + nexus, you download a modified client, we do not.

Edit: That was my longest discussion post ever in this forums lol.

Ah, I completely forgot about the VIP section, good point.

As for losing money, IMO Linux and Microsoft are different because they're completely independent of each other. I still see your point though; that seems like a minor detail in comparison to the other things RSBot and iBot were guilty of, not to mention it would be hard to prove. Thanks for explaining :)

Hey Micro!,

True. I have read the full indictment Jackex <-> iBot. And believe me: if Jackex wants to take us down, they can. There is plenty of evidence all over this place; no doubt about that. Only, we are but a tiny drop in the ocean and our institution is not aimed at destruction nor profit. We are by far the oldest RS cheating-community around. We have seen bots come and go, witnessed the rise and fall of a lot of communities…and we are still here. I say: Let's stay this tiny drop and stay cloaked, and keep on happy cheating for as long as our beloved company allows us to.

This sucks. Oh, and nobody is coming here to leech, color macroing hasn't been relevant to RS cheating in a looong time. We can at max expect a couple people join and post a couple whiny posts and leave.

RSBot was (at least from my experience) easily the best free bot available, and it was fairly easy to create flawless scripts even with alot of walking and complex tasks and you could run the scripts practically endlessly, which is nearly impossible with SCAR and SRL, not to mention it was faster, more accurate, more efficient, could solve all randoms (well, I got stuck in that maze thing once), it had tons of scripts etc. etc.. And I don't understand this "you dont learn anything from it" crap. When I want to learn programming I focus on making actual programs and reading tutorials/ebooks/etc., not runescape cheating.

This post might have mistakes and crap in it but I have no time to really look through it more now :/

You hate me and you probably do not care, but I agree.

RSBot was easy to make (almost) flawless bots with and keep private to earn great deals of RSGP on your own. And I barely believe that with SRL in its current state, you can do it that easily.

Seriously, in not even 3 hours, you can make the root of the script you're designing, and ready to test. Then debug it time to time.

SRL is hard to script with, maybe you like that but I think its pretty much that if we want to stay "cloaked" as WTFakawi has said, we should think of this flawlessness the SRL scripts should become in an easier way.

Yes!

Although, quite honestly, RSBot didn't have too many great scripts. There were I'd say 3-4 flawless free ones, and after that it sort of went downhill. Though that is in large because of the profit to be made form the hundreds of kids who wouldn't mind paying $5 was too great to pass up, hence the vastly successful pay scripts section. Personally, I found RSBot scripting fun in another way; you could concentrate on maximizing efficiency, usability, and appearance instead of concentrating on minor things like clicking roads and detecting objects.

Inb4rsbot is dead, stop talking about how great it was. I'm expressing my opinion of what I enjoyed about it while it lasted, which, I believe, I am free to do in a thread dedicated to it.

First of all, that's not what WT-Fakawi was saying, as far as I can tell. Second, that's not a valid statement. That's like saying that "the world would be a better place, and without war, if religion were abolished." And of course that sounds good at first, since the majority of wars in documented history have been due to (or regarding) religion, but everyone on Earth is still human, and we are still a violent people.

Anyway.

I see this as a slightly bad thing, to be honest. Not in the sense that all the other botting communities were "bad" or "full of leechers and idiots," but the fact that now Jagex has had two legal victories against cheating communities, and we're another pretty well known cheating site. Although, as recently stated, we're much different (I shan't get into that now), but still a cheating community all the same. I'm more worried about Wizzup?/WT-Fakawi/whomever hosts villavu.com than anything (which, logically, still isn't a big threat, but legal trouble is never good. Unless you hack into the government and then you get hired by them or something).

Well obviously we don't make a dent in the RS Economy because, what, we have at most 400 people who bot? Thats like a generous amount, and those '400', are probably some who bot on their main, and with extreme caution.

RSBot is officially not working starting today. Googlecode repository is password protected now… maybe it was taken down?

Maybe like officially close to a week ago lol. But there is already a fix out and it is working if you can find it.

I read some post on a different forum, where a guy had been talking to Qauters (the dude getting sued) on MSN and answering a few questions. I just can't seem to find the link right now >.<

Its just a matter of re-uploading ;) RuneDev v6.5 works perfectly….. just be in time when people are posting the new links. they should make a torrent file or something for it. They cant stop that :)

Its not easy to just update a torrent file though.
SVN/GoogleCode is easier because its like a one click update.

And even if it was a torrent, they could still pin the uploaded/website etc for it, not really a way to get around being caught.

Lol, as Method stated earlier SRL uses the Runescape 'skill images' in the scripts section which are the property of Jagex Ltd.

Also RSBot is updated and currently working as of this moment with a new login bot. :)
Well it is no longer named 'RSBot', it is under a new name, but it is still the same bot.

You just have to know where to look :p
