Advanced colourfinder..

So yeah, Simba should have some kind of 'advanced' colourfinding method. Something similar to SCAR's FindColorComp. Not sure how this would be implemented, but here are some ideas:
  • Callback for colour comparison (Although this probably sucks with PascalScript's speed..)
  • Able to have seperate tolerances for the colour components (RGB/HSL/XYZ)
  • Compare only part of the colour components (so for example only check the R and B)
  • Extra colour conversions (add CMYK for example)
  • Find colours using your own 'path' (like Spiral, but then a custom made path)

Any more suggestions/ideas on howto implement this? Please post :D

Would we need CMYK? I mean.. Computers use RGB, and the model kinda sucks (computer-wise)…

According to that we wouldn't need HSL nor XYZ.. It's just a matter of comparing colours, CMYK might come in handy when you want to compare the Y component. You never know, it certainly cannot harm to have such a feature.

Totally agree with point 2 (and point 3 which is really point 2 with tol 255 twice?). I think people would use RGB more if there was a way to have 3 tols, like CTS2Mod. What we started doing back in the day was a crap load of getcolors and ColorToRGBs (before that function was in SCAR), but that's pretty slow. The other day I made a function that takes MinR, MaxR…MaxB, converts to MinH..etc and then gets HMod, SMod, Tol, which is kind of stupid really. Either make new findcolors functions where Tol is an array, or make another Modifier function and change the existing functions on the backend. I prefer the latter.
