Heya ! :).

Is there a way to convert simba to be compatible with delphi 7.
Just a project file that would "link" the dependencies would be great :].

Why would you want to use Delphi 7?

I like the IDE. And I'm used to Delphi7. I'm also having it already perfectly setup for my needs :].

Can Delphi7 even compile code written with newer versions of Delphi?

It is a no-go either way. Lazarus is IMO way better than Delphi 7.
We are writing code for Free Pascal, and not for Delphi. You're free to port our code to Delphi, but we won't be using nor adding it.
Delphi is history, Free Pascal is the future of Object Pascal.

PS: Senrath, we don't use Delphi, at all. :)

Didn't know that. Then again, I haven't even looked at the source of Simba.

I actually don't think so.

Delphi has alot more components for RAD than Lazarus does ( at least last time I wanted to use it ).

I guess I get myself some lazarus than :]

Delphi supports 32 bit only. It is one of the only compiler that still doesn't support 64 bit. It only works on one platform. Most of components are pay. Not the ideal IDE. :p

oaw @____@ Lazarus seems to generates huge .exe files.

And its slower than Delphi 7. I'll try to convert my tetris :]…

That's because some debugger switch is on, go to project options -> compiler options -> Disable the -g (and -gl) switch.

That is because you compiled debug information in it.
Slower? Sorry, but that's probably just your code mainly. :)
We've had no speed issues with FPC/Lazarus when coding Simba.

Lazarus might be the future, but it's not even close to Delphi at the moment.. Delphi's IDE is very good and they've also added some nice additions to the compiler. The only disadvantages are, as you said, that it is windows only and you have to pay for it (plus for some of the components).
