No more www!

I've configured the web server to rewrite www.villavu.com as villavu.com
Implications: You'll have to log in on villavu.com instead of www.villavu.com in case you only had cookies for www.villavu.com

That's it. All the old links will keep working, but now there won't be any complications in the www versus no www in links.

EDIT: Going to mess around with it a bit more so the reposses can live on.
EDIT2: fixed.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(?!repositories)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.+)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L,QSA]

Same for me. I almost always leave out www in an address but the forums itself add www.

yeah I had the same problem

you see, when I want to go on a .com webiste I always do the following domain then ctrl + enter

that puts the protocol, subdomain and root directory onto the domain, but I can't do that anymore aha

that's cool, I never knew about ctrl+enter, I'll have to remember that, I did it too villavu and it worked.

and thanks Wizzup?, it was very annoying when I'd forget to type www. before villavu and then when I logged in, it'd say I was still logged out until typing in the www.

Doesn't work if you didn't let Firefox save your password though ;) A lot of people use the Remember Me button.

This is great! Now when I go to villavu.com homepage it actually shows me as logged in instead of ALWAYS showing the login form :p.

I personally don't believe we are going to be bombarded with people creating multiple accounts posting threads like "forgot my SRL pass"

Biggest question: what's the reason behind this? Imo it's actually ugly to use a domain without a subdomain..

www. is deprecated.
World Wide Web:
n. Abbr. WWW
 • The complete set of documents residing on all Internet servers that use the HTTP protocol, accessible to users via a simple point-and-click system.
 • n : a collection of internet sites that offer text and graphics and sound and animation resources through the hypertext transfer protocol.

By default, all popular Web browsers assume the HTTP protocol. In doing so, the software prepends the 'http://' onto the requested URL and automatically connect to the HTTP server on port 80. Why then do many servers require their websites to communicate through the www subdomain? Mail servers do not require you to send emails to recipient@mail.domain.com. Likewise, web servers should allow access to their pages though the main domain unless a particular subdomain is required.

Succinctly, use of the www subdomain is redundant and time consuming to communicate. The internet, media, and society are all better off without it.
