Reading HD windows

Am I right in saying that Simba currently can't read the HD window? Most people can't get SCAR to work either?

Can someone show me where in the code Simba reads the window information (e.g. BitBlt or something) and I will make a patch to get it working with HD.

Also, can simba load SCAR plugins?

Hmm… just did some googling, could someone just try calling DwmEnableComposition before trying to access the window DC? (this is for vista only I believe)

We would probably need a Linux & Windows solution, since Simba is cross-platform :p..

And, uhm.. Yes it can read SCAR plugins.. However the current interpreter does NOT like the stdcall call convention which is default in SCAR plugins, so that will probably be a problem.

For the random-plugins I fixed it by exporting it as a register call convention, which is kinda supported by the interpreter.

EDIT: I don't have vista, so cannot really test

How do I test? Compile the code-example and run it?

OK, I've posted a fix in your thread over in test corner, Zyt3x. This will also work for Simba too… linux should work fine without any fixes, though I haven't tested yet. I will write a function for the plugin to allow you to turn off compositing at the start of the script and back on at the end. Only negative effect of the fix is that you lose fancy windows Aero effects, but with the plugin, this will only be for the duration that the script is running.

The only other method to fix this (which I thought I might have to do) would be reading directly from OGL, which would be a bit of a hack. It would also break all of SCAR's native colour searching functions, so not a great solution.

However for Simba it would be perfectly suited, as it can read of any image/data-source.

It already works on Linux. :)
