New forum part?

Cartmann

I was thinking if there could be a forum part for scripting or developing in other bots than SCAR?

YoHoJo

2010-02-11 04:12:51

'Other bots than SCAR' have their own forums? Or should :p.

Cartmann

2010-02-11 04:31:17

Yes, but most of them lack of decent tuts/too many leechers and so on.

YoHoJo

2010-02-11 04:41:55

That's their problem? Why would SRL host tuts for different bots?
And how would having a different section here make people from other bot sides magically want to start writing tutorials?
If people who know what they are doing want to write a good tutorial, they can/will do it at their own tutorial section at their bot of choices' specific website.
Just because SRL community KICKS ASS doesn't mean people from other forums will come here to write tutorials for different bots

It's not about that, but about learning another language through botting, as for one, i wish to learn Java or a C language, and as mentioned by site developers allready, Villavu is about learning, right?

Villavu is about cheating in runescape with SRL (and soon SIMBA)

I thought there are sections for java and c/c++?

Bad Boy JH

our PRIMARY purpose, ie what villavu was designed for, was to bot runescape, it a friendly environment, whist teaching those who wanted to how to write their own scripts.

What we have also got now, is people coming here just to learn something, I personally have no great desire to bot, but am here moreso as a hobby. I think perhaps we shouldn't bring in other bots, and the forums for learning should suffice.

Cartmann

2010-02-12 10:24:01

Actually I think other bots might be good for SRL? Perhaps SRL could learn something?

You could take it like Britain and the multicultural society? It doesn't have to be something negative, but may enrich us instead?

YoHoJo

2010-02-12 15:52:18

I still dont get why these 'other bots' dont have their own forums? They should….
If we want to learn more, we'll head over to their forums, read their tuts, and learn there. But SRL is pretty much for SRL. The forums would get INCREDIBLY sloppy is we hosted/supported the development of 2 bots
SRL + RsBot forums in 1 = HELL.

There are already programming forums for Java and C languages.

I kinda like this idea. :p

Bad Boy JH

Though if we do use this idea, it would get us 1 step closer to something that I think would be the best thing that could happen for the entire botting community, the Makers of RSBot and Scar (or simba) working together to get an almost fail-free bot!

Lol!

And for the record I think this is a horrible idea. Yohojo was right, if you want to learn about other bots and how to script for them go to their forums. It would be like teaching woodworking at a culinary school. These forums are for SRL, other bots forums are for their own bots.

If we were a general "Runescape cheating" site, then this would be a great idea. But we're not. Villavu is for SRL.

I agree, the other problem is how friendly SRL is compared to other botting sites. I would much rather have an SRL environment than a RSBot environment.

Just saying…

exactly, and as allready stated, it's just a mean to learn JAVA.

This sounds incredibly close minded. I for one wouldn't mind at all having a bigger part of RS Bot here. From what I've seen, yes, their community is in no way comparable to this one. Their bot? Their bot seems to work just fine. Add the two together and it would be one hell of a good thing.

SRL is great and always has been. Call me crotchety, but don't fix it if it's not broke.

Not closed minded at all. I like and respect rsbot and its good competent members. I just feel like it will be a jibber jabber mess if we merge the two into one forum or even just have a board for it.

If someone wises to learn rsbot/java coding, why not just go there, and learn it. I never said DON'T do it, or CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER, I just don't see any benefit in opening an RsBot/Any other bot board here, when they already have their own forums.

For a community, you should perhaps invest in JAVA, seeing as the main reason why reflection is down, is becouse no-one really understand JAVA, with a foreign bot in a subsection within thiese boards, you would be able (as a community) to gain people with JAVA knowledge which would benefit Villavu alot.

Yes, there seems to be a general okness with it, although it hasn't been thoroughly discussed. It will most likely be implemented during the next forum restructuring.

Awesome, i have a lot of questions about the "other" (mainly JAVA) bots, since runescape apperently have been closing down the main part of them, or as RSBot, made it some kind of SRL type a thing?
