When opening files in simba, it replaces the current tab that your on with the file that you chose to open. shouldn't it open up a new tab? (win7 64-bit). simba rev 534.

Well, if I click on a bookmark in my firefox, it opens it in the current tab…

Hmm, not sure.. Most word processors etc open a new tab for every time you open a file..

I think this should be optional (open in a new tab).

In Firefox, if you click with the middle button (or hold ctrl while clicking), it opens in a new tab. That works pretty good for me :)

Yep, but not too useful then in a Filedialog. :)

Oh right, might be an idea for recent files though?

Yea File->Open Recent would be nice

and when I click on a simba file in explorer it just opens simba and not the script I clicked on, ACA does the same thing with ACA files.

Yeah, this is kinda an issue.. You cannot really do this from withing lazarus as it is kinda OS-specific coding. So this would need to be done inside an installer, which isn't available yet.

Yes. I was thinking about something like the Firefox history. That's pretty damn useful.

Could you just store it in the Settings.xml in another section? Might take some restructuring though.

A browser is completely different to text editting/coding programs. name one stackable well known text editor that when opening a file, closes the current one.

You could be right i just dont think i've seen any. so feel free to prove me wrong

Yes, File > Open should open in a new tab, as well as double-clicking a file to open it (as opposed to a new Simba instance). Also, File > New should create a new tab as well.

I think IceFire means that when you open a file with Simba, it doesn't load the file, it just opens Simba. I don't think that's OS specific (at least, I think Linux also works with commandline parameters?).

How on earth would that take some restructuring? lol

I don't know much text editors… I only work in vim. I guess it can be changed. :)

That won't be too hard, no. And yeah, Linux works with command line arguments too. ;)

I didn't know someone had ever launched SCAR from the command line.

When associating files, it has the same effect as opening the application from the commandline with the file as parameter, at least that's how it works in Windows (shouldn't differ too much in Linux).

Oh yeah. I thought he was talking about associating the .simb files with Simba ^_^.

I mean that a file automatically gets called with the filename as parameter when opening from the explorer.

EDIT: oh, Markus beat me :p
