Howto get Simba to work with SRL.

This will only work on Windows for now (linux still has lots of troubles with the Interpreter).

How to get it to work?

1) Create a new directory (Lets' call it Simba)
2) Download Simba.exe and put it in this directory
(Automatically created now) 3) Create 3 Subdirs (Includes and Plugins and Fonts)
(Automatically done now) 4) Make a checkout on Fonts to the following SVN url ( http://www.villavu.com/repositories/merlijn/mufasa/trunk/Fonts )
5) Create a subdir SRL in Includes ( Simba/Includes/SRL/ )
6) Make a checkout on SRL to the Open Dev ( http://www.villavu.com/repositories/srl-opendev )
7) Go to Simba/SRL/place inside plugins folder/Simba/ (here u will see 3 dll's and 2 sources).
8) Copy those DLL's (libsmart.dll, irokiplugin.dll and skyplugin.dll) and paste them in the plugins folder ( Simba/Plugins/ )
9) Open up Simba.exe and run an empty script once (just press play)
(Automatically done now) 10) Click View -> View Settings (in the menu bar) and unfold the tree.
(Automatically done now) 11) Now go to Plugins -> Path and double click the thingy below it. Change the value to your just created Simba/Plugins/ folder (Don't copy this, get your own directory. Be sure you put a slash after the Plugin dir).
(Automatically done now) 12) Now go to Includes -> Path and double click the thingy below it. Change the value to your just create Simba/Includes/ folder (Don't point to the SRL folder, just the Includes folder will do. Be sure you put a slash after the Include dir)
(Automatically done now) 13) Do the same but now for the Fonts -> Path.. Be sure it includes the trailing slash.

Now a test script?
program new;
{$define SMART}
{$i srl/srl.scar}
begin
SetupSRL;
end.

I've been able to run two, randomly chosen, srl scripts. So yeah, it's functional..

However it probably will contain lots of unnoticed bugs..

Works. Works, WORKS!!!!! Incredible. Wow. Just unbelievable!!!!

Almost starting to High Alch :)

Running an SRL script twice results in:

ERROR IN PSSCRIPT: Plugin(irokiplugin) has been found multiple times

and I made a thread in the Simba section for Errors specific for SRL 4 & Simba.

Sorry if this has already been asked/ answered before, as I am not 100% Simba literate.

Simba runs great (1/4th compiling time :D), but when I try and 'Script->Compile' when SRL is included it always says:

srl/srl.scar doesn't exist
ERROR IN PSSCRIPT: Unable to find file 'srl/srl.scar' used from ''

So I just press run instead and it compiles fine

Working ok with my PMS, are any of the color finding formulas changed? My ACA CTS/MODs work fine with SCAR, but often times it seems to be detecting some ground colors as iron colors (which doesn't happen with SCAR). Only did one load, but it was very fun to watch!

Depends what CTS you are using? CTS 3 isn't supported..

And the others, they *should* work.. However it isn't thoroughly tested.

Hmn, just an assumtpion, I didnt check it yet, but it maybe that simba uses "GetCurrentDir" or does not give an absolute path for the includes. For Both scenarios Dialogs like the OpenFile Dialog would overwrite the Current Location of the programme with the last location something was openend or saved via Dialog.

I hope that makes sense xD.. I had that problem quite frequently >_<…

Well if you tell the application something like "AssignFile(filepointer, 'includes\srl\….\file.simba');".

The application would add the "current" dir infront of that like

GetCurrentDir + \includes\srl\…. (correct folder)
c:\documents\….\mystuff…\simba\includes\srl\…. (correct folder)

But if you use the opendialog you change the variable for the "current dir"
and it would search where you just browsed.

GetCurrentDir + \includes\srl\….
c:\documents\….\desktop…\porn\includes\srl\…. (no includes here, sadly)

I had that problem and it was really nasty xD.. even took me a while to figure out.

So instead of using just "includes\srl…." or GetCurrentDir+"includes\srl…" The programme should use the absolute path to the executable, which is usually found in ParamStr(0).

But maybe simba does that, and the problem is somewhere else :]…

That's clear but those are just the built-in functions. To be honest I am just lazy that's why I am asking. I am too lazy to look up srl functions while scripting and I don't know every param, etc.

mixster

2010-02-26 18:15:58

As the current system simply puts all functions in scripts into the scripts section, it would kind of mean that you would have millions of stuff under there - opening individual files does list them though.

Maybe an addition of an "includes" branch of some kind?

Other than that SRL indeed does not compile…. Blame Wizzup for not giving me a proper way of uploading my executable.

And for the Function list.. Well no, there isn't, the function list isn't really supposed to be functional yet.

You can get the *real* latest version here -> http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52659

Oh okay. I haven't really used Simba until now and I haven't really been looking through the forums, so I'm not sure what's functional and what's not, but good to know. :)

EDIT: Once I got the *real* newest version, it worked. Loaded SMART and everything. You should update the link in the first post. ;)

:) Alright.

On another note, how do you include files in the same path as the script? I want to include my form in my draynor script, but the method SCAR uses doesn't work. I also tried {$i DCnB_Form
.simb}.

Exactly the same as you would do in scar ;-). However you cannot have spaces in the filename (I guess).

E: Also note that you don't have to create a separate Simba file, with the patch I gave the file compiles for both Scar and Simba.. Thank lord for Defines!

Yeah I know, I just made a separate folder for the simba version. I probably should just keep one though.

Oh, and awee, the debug font is different from SCAR's, my signature doesn't work. :(

Does Simba compile on linux?

Because I get

Thank you for using Simba,
Hakuna Matata

Loaded Font Fonts
[Error] /home/aaron/Documents/siimba/Includes\SRL/SRL/Core/Simba.simb(338:14): Unknown identifier '' at line 338
Compiling failed.

I used WINE to download simba.exe.

As far as I know, if you download/install something with Wine, you have to run the program with Wine for it to work.

It seems as though /Plugins/Simba/ doesn't have skyplugin.dll. :/

I don't think its used in SRL anymore, TriLeZ's and Iroki's solvers replaced it.

Possibly Pinball?

Because your SRL is out2date. However, the latest SRL won't compile (for now) I would have to upload a new Simba bin first ;)

trying to use srl include everything is set right but i get this error:

[Error] C:\Users\Public\Simba\Scripts\SRL/SRL/Core/Globals.scar(26:3): Duplicate identifier 'FriendChars' at line 25

if i remove this line it'll give me multiple errors that are exactly the same.

Also is Windmouse not in the new SRL for Simba because it wouldn't work for me either.

I don't know about the duplicate identifier error, but we no longer use Windmouse, afaik. Just use Mouse and MMouse
