Is there anyway to use WriteFileString and add a newline to the file?

if you want to save the byte(s) you could always do: #10#13 :)
just a personal question: does #13#10 translate to \r\n?

Yes, #13 = Carriage Return (CR) = \r
and #10 = Line Feed (LF) = \n
