the only logical reason i can think of, of why communism is bad, is that nations who have communistic economies think that they automaticly have a dictatorship government. this is not true, and if we (as in the world) will pull our heads out of our asses, we will see that a communist economy with a demacrocy government would be a amazing

That would be socialism then, not communism.

The reason why Communism does not work is as follows:
  • People don't have any incentives to work hard; Everyone gets the same things. People who don't do shit get paid the same amount as someone who works their ass off.
  • When an economy is all government controlled the result is having yes maybe a couple successful heavy industries, but this could also result in extreme shortages in other fields.
  • There is no variety of products being made, thus less/no growth.

In the world there are currently only two places that have true Communist goverments: Cuba, North Korea. China is slowly transitioning towards a market-based system. Giving land and resources to businesses/individuals is more beneficial for a country as a whole because of competition and self-interest.

Reading your post Awkwardsaw just makes me sad. I don't know how you have learned history but what I see from that post doesn't shows much …
WhiteShadow is right but there are other points too. I won't write complete lessons down, but speaking about something that you don't know is stupid.

The only reason communism doesn't work is because humans are too imperfect. Every single other reason as to why it doesn't stems from this core reason.

Everyone does have an incentive - if everyone works hard, it increases production etc leading to increased wealth for the whole society. Also, peer pressure to encourage working hard could also contribute to increased production.

I don't think you can fairly say that the governments selected economy growth is the fault of communism. Proper planning and the like could easily lead to a balanced, stable and successful economy regardless of the kind of economy it is as well as bad planning affect capitalist countries.

Lack of variety lends itself to above, however this in no way means no growth. Demand does change as time goes on, so even if a country only produced food, as the number of people alive increases, demand for food goes up and so the economy continues to grow despite only producing food.

I would also like to point out all of these are just as possible in capitalist economies. Large supply of employees in an industry with low demand can produce a situation where there is minimal pay and fairly low chance of promotion and the like for most employees. Large demand for certain industries in some countries leads to that industry taking over a country (ie factories in countries with no/very low minimum wages) as a direct result of them being more attractive to a company. Crashes in markets and the like can lead to massive recessions despite diversity in products.

Yeah exactly as post #2 states, people can drop out of school at year 9 and then get some lame ass job like a street cleaner then someone who studies there ass off and goes to university for 8 years and becomes a brain surgeon will get payed the same amount as the kid who dropped out.

Communism is also associated with bad things like dictators because Marx and whoever else co-wrote it were misinterpreted, just like Nietzsche with the Nazis..

It also encourages people to follow their passions rather than what jobs pay the best, possibly resulting in a happier, more motivated workforce and discourages high school drop outs as they know they will spend their lives doing a job they hate.

+1 :p also please people, don't talk out of your ass… For little I'd say there is much trolling in this thread.

smaller scale socialism based on the anarchist model worked for a while in Israel. Read about cooperatives, Qibuts.

Basically, industries were split into confederations, which were split in federations, which were then split in local cooperatives. Cooperatives each sent a deputy to the federation, federations each sent a deputy to the confederation and everyone was equally represented.

If your cooperative sucked, you'd get less negotiating power at the federation, going up. I think it's the right way to do it, because when you split the revenues of the local coop between 20 workers, everyone's gonna make sure that everyone works hard.

i guess all but a few didnt realize the troll in my post.

:(

yes nava, thats pretty much how i see it :p

anyways, i talked about it today in my daily rants and such in lunch/marketing(along with why the U.S should be in iraj, and abortions are good), which is what made me think of this thread

and as for mixters post, i can think of a lot of jobs that i can be with for the rest of my life and be happy, while dropping out of high school/ not going to college. :)

I don't think any of the current main political systems are good.

Democracy is good, but leads to too much capitalism. Capitalism alone isn't bad, but it always grows to scary proportions.

Slightly off but I saw this this morning, have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydbbd-4oEds (First google hit)
Look at the awful amount of satellites there! Sure, some are for educational purposes, but I bet a lot of those is just there because some company needed another sattelite, to do the same things. Google Maps, X Maps, Y Maps, Z Maps… Why don't they just use the same damn satellite?

This is how it always goes with Capitalism, due to all the competition a lot of companies pass certain nature-borders, IMO. Always has been like this, and always will be.

Microsoft takes this competition to a next level by hiring people to fight the more socialist-oriented projects - http://www.mealldubh.org/index.php/2009/12/26/race-against-the-machine/ ( http://tech.slashdot.org/story/09/12/30/0352211/Is-OpenOfficeorg-a-Threat-Microsoft-Thinks-So )
The same way they fight science with their pathetic DirectX…

Anyway… I kinda drifted away even further. :p
Communism doesn't work because people are too easily ``corrupted''; socialism is OK but doesn't give enough room for the real talented, and capitalism takes opportunities to an awfully wrong high level, which hardly ever really benefits the world.

Depending on the careers, they can be done by low qualifications, but then there would be either a lot of competition or a talent/skill requirement for it of sorts. I would also guess that in a capitalist environment they pay quite badly, making them unlikely to be preferred jobs due to the want for money that is drilled into everybody, so doesn't really challenge my claim at all :)

capitalism wise, my current job has no requirements to get the job, almost to compition, yet its a service that every one needs, which is car alternator/ starter repair.

the buisness makes 100k+ a year, its a small buisness, and my dad started it right out of highschool. its also really realy fun and relaxed job

It has a car knowledge requirement (and probably needs an enthusiasm for cars) then :)

you can start out with no knowledge, and even then its just following details :)
