A few questions.
1. Do you smoke it?
2. Favorite method? Favorite strain?
3. Legalization vs. decriminalization.
4. How'd you start? How young/old? With who?
5. If you don't smoke, and are against it, why?
Anything else would be nice to see discussed about it. :3
I personally smoke quite often, for medical reasons.
1. Yes.
2. I prefer using a bong, sometimes smoke blunts though. Any strain really, but I like Trainwreck, Sour Diesel, Purple Kush, etc. (Street terms).
3. Decriminalization.
4. I started because of my friend. Thirteen years old. My friend obviously.
5. I do smoke so I am not against it :).

Strain, not the bud name.. Indica/sativa.
And why decriminalized and not legalized? I agree with you on decriminalization (here in Oregon it's chill to have it as long as it's under an ounce.. x]), but do you've reasons?
Ah, sativa of course! That is more prominent (here at least).
Sorry, where I am they refer to the the bud name by strains as well :p.
Well I'm for decriminalization as well as legalization..as long as I am able to smoke/possess it legally I am fine.

Well you're 14, so no matter what it won't matter for you.. ;) (California is currently aiming for 21 years of age and older)
True. However, the consequences will be smaller I would think..
Well actually, I really don't care if they don't legalize or anything.

It doesn't matter to me :).

:p Well the whole point of the law they're trying to pass isn't just to smoke.. it's mostly because they'll (the state) will tax it, and, since marijuana is the most profitable crop in America, use the money to help stabilize California's economy. :3
Which is a good thing to do. It is also not the best thing to do for us because we may have to pay more money to obtain it. They will probably most likely tax growing as well.

Every 21 year old who owns their own land will be able to grow up to 25 square feet or something for personal use. I don't see how they can tax personal use, especially not when it's only 25 square feet of land.. :p But I guess we'll see. And it won't be that expensive. They'll have dank weed, and it'll be reasonably priced, I'm sure. The best part about it (for consumers, not producers) is that they'll have to sell really high quality marijuana so that people don't just buy from dealers so they don't have to pay the tax.

Well I assume he means while will anyone buy when they can grow 25 sq feet.. And that's if the law's passed. But the reason people would still buy is because it takes effort, time, and knowledge. ;) And not everyone owns land.. I'm sure there's more regulations on this.

No I don't smoke it because it can give you the following:
nausea, coughing, asthma, upper respiratory problems, difficulty with short-term memory during effects, racing heart, agitation, feeling tense and mild to severe anxiety.
Also, panic attacks, headaches, dizziness, confusion, fainting, clumsiness and loss of coordination. There's a reason why it's called dope. Somethings you get after use is dry mouth, tired, red, dry, or itchy eyes and joint stiffness
I also saw on a documentary that it does 3x more damage to your lungs and by the age of 20 you could have severe lung problems. They interviewed weed smokers and most of them said that it fucks up your head
Edit - The documentary is called "Should I smoke dope" by the BBC network

It can give you nausea? Thats a new one for me. Thats why cancer patients use it to help fight against the symptoms of their radiation treatment right? Totally discredits everything you said as far as I am concerned.
Also joint stiffness? Could I get a study that had some correlation between marijuana use and joint stiffness? Sounds extremely off the ball considering lots of people use it medically and recreationaly to relax and as treatment for insomnia. I don't think it'd be very easy to get to sleep with stiff joints, but thats just me…

It gives you nausea in large quantities if you're new to it, mostly.
Anyway, on the other notes:
coughing: well no shit, you're smoking something.. >_> It's not persistent, like tobacco is.
asthma: marijuana is a bronchial dilator.
upper respiratory problems: ^
short term: yup, when you're high. Which only lasts around two hours.
racing heart: caffeine makes your heart race as well. So does running.
agitation: I lol'd. :p When you're high, everything's nice.
anxiety: usually only due to the fear of getting in trouble (as it's illegal).
panic attacks: people have them off weed, as well. I do. (I meant I have them off weed. But it was prescribed to me for depression, anxiety, and insomnia.. it helps all of those)
headaches: I dunno anyone who gets a headache from it..
dizziness: that's part of the drugs effect.. :p
confusion: short term-memory related. It only lasts while you're high.
fainting: otherwise known as "greening-out," and it's just if you smoke too much, and it's not like you're gonna die from fainting.. >_>
clumsiness: again, drug effect
loss of coordination: >_>
dry mouth: OH GAWD NO! It's not like you can't drink some water.. chewing gum usually stimulates it, as well.
tired: drug effect. It's a nice tired, as well.
dry, red, itchy eyes: mhmm. again.. OH GAWD NO! :/
stiff joints: I dunno anyone who's ever had that happen to them..
3x more damage to lungs: 3 times worse than what..? If you say tobacco, that's lulz-worthy. :3 If you say not smoking, well that's because people smoke it rather than eating/vaporizing. And when they test all this stuff, they usually test it with joints. And joints are ridiculous. You get hardly any delta-9-THC, and it's way hotter than other methods. I've never smoked a joint, and I only would if I needed to disguise it when I'm outside, since it's illegal to smoke marijuana. However, vaporizing does no damage to the lungs, only helps them (remember, marijuana is a bronchial dilator). And eating it wastes some THC, and takes longer. And smells up the whole kitchen. So since smoking it is easier, that's how people do it.
fucks up your head: that's a drug effect, brah. :/ It's a psychedelic hallucinogen. >_>
So basically all of your points are pretty off. Anything else?

Well I also saw/read documentaries about how weed is GOOD for you. So obviously someone's making shit up. But I dunnooooo..
"Marijuana is so safe that it would be almost impossible to overdose on it. Doctors determine how safe a drug is by measuring how much it takes to kill a person (they call this the LD50) and comparing it to the amount of the drug which is usually taken (ED50). This makes marijuana hundreds of times safer than alcohol, tobacco, or caffiene. According to a DEA Judge "marijuana is the safest therapeutically active substance known to mankind.''"

Getting stiff joints is mainly a "hangover" effect from it. It generally happens a few days after smoking it (But doesn't always happen). I myself don't smoke it but I won't judge you.

Haha.. hangover? From weed? And what causes that?
Alcoholic hangovers are caused from ethanol, which causes dehydration, and then people drink more because "alcohol is a liquid." Which is stupid. Weed makes you dehydrated and hungry, so you eat and drink shit. If you can control yourself and not drink alcohol, then you're fine. But marijuana doesn't cause a "hangover" effect.

I saw this thing where they looked at a weed smokers lungs and after 5 or so years you could see that the lungs actually had shrunk/had things in there which caused him to have lung problems. They could also predict that his lungs were getting worse the more he was smoking. Oh and he never smoked tobacco in his life.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
You think it's illegal because it's "bad" for you? x] That's hilarious, man.
Alcohol and tobacco and caffeine are also bad for you. They cause more deaths than marijuana. Oh, wait, that's right.. marijuana has never caused a single death in any documented source. >_>
It was originally illegal because of racial issues. Just like opiates were illegal because the Chinese used them to get work done, and whites didn't want the Chinese there. And marijuana was illegal in south western states like California before any other states, because the Mexicans were notoriously known for smoking weed. That "la cucaracha" song that people only know the "la cucaracha" part is about weed..
Oh, and if you wanna say something about "America being stupid for being racist, and I live in Australia/Europe/wherever, so they'd only make it illegal if it's bad for you," then you should think about that. ;)
Also, the BBC had a short (few minute) video about how humans are wired to respond to marijuana. Which we are. We have cannabinoid receptors in us. And delta-9-THC (the "main" chemical that gets you high in weed.. there are a few other main cannabinoids in marijuana, but they mainly build up on delta-9-THC) gets metabolized in the body, and is made into 11-deoxy-THC and 11-nor (or something like that.. basically the point is that they aren't delta-9-THC). So, prior to popular knowledge, THC does stay in your body for weeks-months, but it's not the same THC (delta-9-THC) that stays in the body. It's metabolized, different chemicals, and they DO NOT make you high.
Moar?
Oohh.. Joints. Of course. Joints are just marijuana cigarettes. Cigarettes are bad for you in many ways. One of those reasons is the immense heat they burn at. It's far greater than what are lungs are meant to do. Joints burn at the same (roughly) temperature, so the main cause of mouth/throat/lung damage is from the temperature of the smoke, not the actual product. If you smoke out of a pipe, the smoke cools down slightly while it's in the chamber. It's still not the best for you, but it's much better. In bubblers/water pipes/bongs (all three different smoking apparatuses by the way), the smoke goes over the water, cooling it down, and you get "smoother" hits. By smooth, the marijuana smoker means it's easy on the throat/lungs. That's because it's cooled down a lot. Vaporizers, which are the safest way to ingest marijuana, other than eating it orally, vaporize the weed. There's no burning of the substance, it just heats it up so that it'd be not even as hot as if you open up the oven while baking cookies (normal cookies), and inhale the air that was in the oven.

When you inhale some weed you are inhaling million of tiny little red hot balls, this is what mainly causes the lung problems, and I think its the stuff that also makes the leaves sticky (or whatever part of the tree you smoke). Edit - I think this only applies to joints, but I cannot say I am 100% certain about it.
Also, at one part in the documentary the girl got high on pure THC and she was scared, frightened and afraid of nearly anything, it was only until she got high on cannaboids (Or whatever they are called) is when she started to laugh heaps for no reason, but the cannaboids are the tiny balls on the plant that gets really hot and can cause damage when it is lit.

Yeah, but the majority of weed smokers use joints/pipes. But joints overrule pipes, as they are easily made and not many people want to spend a further 15-20 dollars on a pipe.
People can make pipes easily. If I had some weed I could just make a pipe and use that (providing the weed isn't shake) instead of making a joint. Would be faster for me..

Yeah but joints are cheaper to make all you need is basically toilet paper or something like that. You just basically have to put weed in the middle of it, roll it up then its ready to smoke, that's why so many people use joints because they are very quick to make, and also very easy once you get the hang of it. (I have read about this on various websites, not talking of experience.)

Besides, they gave her a really heavy dose and being a first time user of course she experienced bad side effects.

Well actually, doctors prescribe pure THC in capsules. They're not used much, as it doesn't give the same effects as marijuana. As you said, when she smoked the other cannabinoids (delta-9-THC is a cannabinoid by the way), she was more of the conventional "high." That's why you don't just smoke a THC capsule. ;)
And you don't inhale weed. That'd probably end up in pneumonia, as it'd get infected in the lungs, just like with what happens to food in the lungs. You burn the weed, which then turns into ash and smoke. You inhale the smoke, which is different from actual marijuana.
You smoke the bud of the plant, by the way. The stems, and leaves, have hardly any THC, and aren't used to smoke, as you'd need to smoke a significant amount of leaves/stems to get high (and they taste terrible, apparently. I dunno. I've never done it because that'd be a complete waste).
Umm.. what else.. Oh. Those "tiny red hot balls" are trichomes (or "crystals"). They're what have the majority of the cannabinoids (delta-9-THC, CBN, CBD, etc.) in the plant. They get turned into ash as well. And that's why vaporizing/water filtration is good.
Toilet paper joints..? >_>
Anyway. I, again, have never smoked a joint, nor have I ever seen anyone smoke a joint.

And any pot smoker who has any common sense would figure out that it's much cheaper to buy a good pipe/bong. Because those papers will add up, but the pipe/bong is a one time thing. Same with vapes.
The reason people don't use vaporizers very often, even though they get the most THC from the weed out of any other way known, is because you vape a lot more before the weed's cashed (as in it takes longer to use up all of the weedy goodness, so people don't like to do that), and they're not very mobile. With pipes/joints (I'm excluding bongs, because they can be quite large), they can be taken anywhere. And all you need is the pipe/paper, weed, and a lighter.

I said they range from $30-$600. Bongs get up in the thousands. And I just found a vaporizer for $20.. and that's about as much as a good pipe will cost, so it's not that they're expensive so much as it takes a lot more time and effort to cash the bowl. (You have to opening it up/take off the screen and mess with the weed in the bowl by crushing it, moving it around and stuff.. it's to make the surface area increase.. and so most people just wanna take a few hits, which only takes a few minutes, and they're good and high. Anyway, the bowl is just where you put the weed.

And I was reading comments on an online headshop, and some of the people didn't like the vapes because they're used to smoking. For me, taking a hit out of a bong just feels amazing, because I've always seen people do it, so then once I actually am, it just feels nice. Just like people who smoke cigarettes. After awhile, they don't even do it for the feeling. They just do it because they're used to it.
People are reluctant to change. I first took a hit from a pipe, so I'm used to that the most. And I'd feel silly smoking a joint.

Cycrosism's list of reasons why it's "bad" for you is what every government says. The only reason why it's illegal in the US is because we were making seed oil and which was much better and cheaper than petroleum. The oil companies used their strength to make it illegal. Then the government came up with why it's "bad"
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington both grew and smoked pot. They even wrote about it. Marijuana has MANY good uses, it can help a man with cerebral palsy be normal while he's high and actually be able to communicate as if there's nothing wrong with him.
Watch a documentary called "Totally Baked", it's one of the best ones I've seen.
~Camo
I have heard that the only reason marijuana is illegal is because Nixon made it illegal when people he didn't like that were in office smoked it and if he made it illegal, they would be breaking the law and be overthrown.

I don't really have an opinion on this and legalizing weed is kind of useless, it won't make people smoke less cigs or use less alcohol or any other drugs, it'll just be added with those two.. I think everyone should have the right to take any drugs they like if they were denied all free healthcare for the damage they cause to their body (not referring only to weed, note the any drugs).. Wasting tax money because some sad failure decided to turn himself into a vegetable is a nothx.

Gl finding a job that doesn't involve organizing garbage or the words "Would you like some fries with that?" after that, atleast here.. Or it gets pseudo-removed after some years from the record, so it's just more tedious for employers to find out, but still it instantly makes you seem like a loser to the employer, unless you want to work with some dirty hippies (assuming some of them work instead of slacking around and playing the guitar horribly).

I think everyone should have the right to take any drugs they like if they were denied all free healthcare for the damage they cause to their body (not referring only to weed, note the any drugs).. Wasting tax money because some sad failure decided to turn himself into a vegetable is a nothx.
E: I'd probably smoke it if it was legal, but I'd rather not risk getting some drug abuser criminal record.
The solution? Work, at Taco Time, saying would you like some mexi-fries with that would be so much more fun.

All i have to say is there are three types of people in this battle.
1The person against weed. No matter what you say, they are always against it, and will argue no, no matter what. (EG, cyro ;))
2The one who does weed.
(They don't all look like that but the 60's were good years :p)"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee maaaaaaaaaaaaaan this stuff is amazinggggg"
3The one who doesn't really care. The one kind of in between.
EG me.
I've got the stereotypical look and style for someone who does weed, but I don't.
I will never do weed, but i hang with a lot of people who do. There good people, and pretty funny when their high, but contraire to common belief, they don't at all pressure me into doing it.
Weed is your choice IMO, if you want to shorten your life, but live a paradise, that's your choice :).

2. Kimo was a favourite for me :) it's legendary in Québec.
3. Decriminalization. Legalization is a Very Bad idea, because unlike some of you try to prove by all means, it HAS its bad effects.
4. I started when I was 14 with one of my best friends :) He's currently a dope dealer but we still hang out.
5. I stopped smoking because people with ADD who smoke weed are at increased risk of schizophrenia, and I had a very very very bad hallucinations attack. This shit has PLENTY of bad side effects, including the part where people won't hang out with you because you're the druggie kid.

You're wrong in every single way. Your beginning quotes are sterotypes of both sides.
People who support marijuana are not hippies, that was the 70's. The correct term is marijuana activists.
You say you don't have an opinion but you're posting biased stereotypical comments from both sides…May I suggest you know what you're talking about before posting and not just repeating what you've heard?
Weed has never been about getting people to use less alcohol or cigs, where the hell did you get that from?
Why are you associating weed with criminal drug abuse? Those don't go together in anyway…Yes, it is possible for idiots to be a criminal and smoke weed, but it's not just the weed, it's other circumstances too (Other drugs). So since I smoke weed, then it's not possible for me to work as a programmer? I had a 6 month contract with a web programming company and smoked every day.
So you're saying that people who work in the fast food industry are nothing but pot heads?
You keep throwing the word hippies around and saying they are dirty and lazy, get your fucking facts straight you little prick, actually educate yourself before posting shit you have no idea about.
You're saying pot smokers don't work, well you're wrong on all accounts.
Also, most employers really don't care if you have a drug record as long as it's reasonable.
You sir, have pissed me off with your uneducated remarks about a subject that you yourself said you don't have an opinion on. Like I said before, actually learn and educate yourself about a subject before responding with bullshit.
One last thing, so all shitty guitar players are pot heads?
*EDIT* Cyc is right, they were making hemp paper/oil/clothes and it was much cheaper and better quality than what we have. So the higher up companies rallied against it so they wouldn't lose any business.

Getting stiff joints is mainly a "hangover" effect from it. It generally happens a few days after smoking it (But doesn't always happen). I myself don't smoke it but I won't judge you.
Heh, unfortunately I didn't have time to read through the whole thread and so jsut picked one of the comments from the first page :p
Weed is very often used to help with muscle pain, as it relaxes the whole body. Also, the "hangover" effect (calm down) is just tiredness and low unattentiveness over the next one day if even that long. Go to sleep, wake up and half way through the day you won't even notice anything anymore.
So… nope, not after 'a few days' and definitely not stiff joints as that is one of the reasons it is medically accepted.
Edit: I've now had the time to read through it :p
There are several ways of looking at it that need to be considered:
How do you smoke it? - Methods which involve more tobacco will obviously be worse for your lungs
- Whichever method you use, you are still harming your lungs because it is smoke.
- How big is this harm? As previously stated, no weed-only lung cancer has been recorded to date.
How often do you smoke it? - An occasional smoker will most likely only reap the benefits as long as s/he smokes a suitable amount
- "memory problems" can be seen, but this would only be noticebly detectable if the person is a on a constant high/calmdown cycle. They are a normal effect in some strands of weed such as amnesia during the high, while others will not give you memory problems at all, during or after the high.
How much do you smoke? - Greening out and negative effects usually are caused by having smoked above your bodily level of acceptance, meaning that the relaxing effects are actually too strong, therefore making you green out. Same way you end up puking and having a huge hangover with alcohol if you drink too much.
- Different quantaties can be smoked to achieve different effects. Personally I used small amounts of weed to help me focus on my work, which actually goes against the "it makes you distracted". When used in supervised/controlled circunstances you can use it's effects to your advantage.
e.g. You lose a bit of awareness of what is surrounding you. So by smoking, I lost awareness of my environment and was able to fully focus on my work.
What environment are you in when you smoke it? - If in a club, you'll probably end up tripping on the music a lot more (hummmmmm, nice experiences)
- If in a darkly lit room with nice low music you will most likely end up on a philosophical mood or if you are smoking it ith other people you are also very likely to engage in deep (and sometimes insightful) conversations.
- If out on the streets, you might end up getting nervous or anxious, as you are way more calm than everyone else ho jsut seem way too active, therefore making you feel like you don't fit in. You aren't as able to keep up with a fast speeded conversation as you usually would be.
Also, keep in mind that weed hightens the senses of your body. All 5 senses and other senses that are not usually considered such as Perception of space, perception of heat. It also "makes you creative" because your mind is wandering in paths that are different from those of when you are sober, and therefore it seems/is new to you, making you call it 'creativity'.
For example, any sexual interaction when high feels extremely good because of your tactile sense (all over the body), the intensity of smells, the heat on your body, the tastes in your mouth, everything is way more intense.
Am I against it? I'm against no drug as long as you know what you are doing it, how to do it and how to manage inside of the trip. If you're just gonna smoke and green out each time then it's sort of pointless, because you end up feeling more bad than good. If you're gonna smoke and for that lack on your responsabilities then it's bad. But if you smoke after an entire day and have no other responsabilities to tend to, after having considered all the effects and how affordable they are, then why not? I know I do.

Lol? It still doesn't matter what you are doing. It does the same thing, speed up your heart rate. Smoking MJ is not ALL bad. Why do you have this viewpoint? Oh yeah, because your parents taught you that. Your opinion is so biased. But it will not cause heart problems. A sped up heart is not a problem at all..(for short periods of time)..it is part of every day life.

An interesting story bro:
I never touched drugs or alcohol until December my Junior year of High school. I never had any history of behavioral problems, insanity or anything out of sorts. My friend(s) and I started smoking weed more and more often until it was about once or twice a week. About 5 months after that I smoked some weed like normal except my heart rate increased a bit… everything was fine for a while. The next day I started feeling large amounts of unexplained agitation/ strange feelings/ conflicting thoughts/ and suppressed appetite. These symptoms were mild at first, but they contained to steadily increase over the next week, and eventually lead to insomnia within 9 days. At the time I was still hiding my little hobby from nondrug users/ my family… and they started to notice a change in my behavior during that… after all I was getting little to no sleep at all at night. I began to wonder if my bud had been laced with something horrid… but I shared that bowl(s) with 3 other friends who have had no problems to date.
Loose of sleep, prolonged strange feelings, and little nutrition was sending me in a downward spiral (even though I had completely stopped all weed usage since 9 days ago). At first my energy level was affected.. I was growing tireless ect.. then it started to hit me mentally.. I could not distinguish proper decisions from bad ones.. and my entire though process was becoming more and more shaky. About 10 days after this I couldn't even sit through school because of the symptoms, I had to leave school that Monday before I even ended first period.
Needless to say, my mother, who was unaware of what was going on at the time, took me to a local doctor who diagnosed me with "minor" dehydration, and I stayed out of school the next day. It was during those days I began to slowly lose all sanity… everywhere I went in my house it felt like someone was starring at me and I began to feel like some "evil spirit" or some bullshit like that was tormenting me.. I began rambling about things that didn't make sense to my parents about things I don't even remember. I eventually ended up running out of my house ( I don't remember the rest) and parents later explained I ran bare foot through the neighborhood shouting things ect.. it wasn't until a day or two after I woke up in a juvenile rehabilitation center that I realized where I was and what I had happened.
They had me in that place for 7 days, on this horrible substance known as Zyprexa which increased your appetite like to like two times its normal demand. I gained 15 pounds in a week there… after being 'rehabilitated' I resumed school as normal although I had missed about two weeks and was really behind, I had my full mental health back.. or so I thought.
A week or two passed and I was going to try smoking some bud again to see if it would affect me, different dealer ect… had friends (they had no problems) ect… and everything was fine for the first 24 hours.. after that I began to get similar symptoms from before… although there was also a drug interaction between Zyprexa and THC which are opposite (anti-dope/syrm)… I was out of school another week and a half and I had to up my dosage of zyprexa again, which was a huge mistake.
I tried to 'wheen' my way off of zyprexa because the stuff was horrible, caused all kinda of problems including insomnia which lasted for months. After completely stopping the dosage of zyprexa I began zyprexa withdraw, which including me getting frequent head aches, more insomnia, and throwing up every morning promptly 5 minutes after I woke up with a terrible stomach ach.
I had been inactive around SRL until the summer which was around the time the final phases of the withdraw were going on, if any of you remember I was unknowingly trolling about every thread I saw -.- and it wasn't until late July that my full mental and physical health were restored completely.
Haven't done weed since, drugs, alcohol, or had any problems with mental/physical health. Except for extremely minor spasms in my muscles while I am trying to sleep rarely.

possible and thats an understatement, people forget weed is a mind altering substance.. and shouldn't be taken lightly just because of speculation.

:p So don't smoke. Obviously something in your brain/body isn't right with THC (which is very odd and rare, so please don't act like this is a common thing, what you went through), so it should be common sense to not do it..
And I didn't see any reason why I shouldn't smoke weed due to your story. Sorry, but people die from placebos. Not anything new.
I do, however, know that it's not smart at all to smoke weed that's laced, unless you're experienced with the laced drug (still I wouldn't smoke any laced weed, even though I've done my fair share of recreational drugs, just because I don't like any other drugs effects, other than weed, of course). My friend Nicole smoked a bowl that was laced with PCP. That in itself is terrible, but the worse part is that her best friend (who she smoked with) didn't tell her until after. And it was laced with freaking PCP..
Here's a story for anyone who may want to try/have friends want to try PCP: My parents are drug and alcohol counselors, so they inform me on drugs all the time. My mom told me that if I ever do drugs, to stick with weed and shrooms, but I don't like hardcore psychedelics (I say hardcore because marijuana is a psychedelic hallucinogen, but it's very mild), so I only smoke weed. Anyway. They were telling me about one of their good friends (who was an ex-patient) who was in treatment for alcohol (I don't drink very often, which most people find odd, since I love being out of it due to weed, but I've a phobia of regurgitation, along with a few other things (I've anxiety and depression, so I have panic attacks semi-frequently, and I've tried to kill myself a few times), and I always think I'll throw up errwhere if I drink), and he had tried PCP one time in his life. No other drugs, just alcohol and PCP once. Anywho, later in his life, 20-40 years after he took PCP (or some crazy long time like that), he had a relapse (I think that's the correct term.. read on), and he thought he was a bird so he jumped out a window and died.
CUHRAZAY, right? Right. And now this chick, Nicole, thinks weed is bad because of how screwed up she was. And I'm worried about her since I know that any time she could just rip out her stomach to feed a giraffe or something.
:<
But in better news! I'm turning 16 in three days, so ima smoke and it'll be a jolly good time. :>

Dunno but someone here might find this interesting.
This fifth brain began to appear about 4,000 years ago in the first leisure-class civilizations and has been increasing statistically in recent centuries (even before the Drug Revolution), a fact demonstrated by the hedonic art of India, China, Rome and other affluent societies. More recently, Ornstein and his school have demonstrated with electroencephalograms that this circuit represents the first jump from the linear left lobe of the brain to the analogical right lobe.
The opening and imprinting of this circuit has been the preoccupation of "technicians of the occult"—Tantric shamans and hatha yogis. While the fifth tunnel-reality can be achieved by sensory deprivation, social isolation, physiological stress or severe shock (ceremonial terror tactics, as practiced by such rascal-gurus as Don Juan Matus or Aleister Crowley), it has traditionally been reserved to the educated aristocracy of leisure societies who have solved the four terrestrial survival problems.
About 20,000 years ago, the specific fifth brain neurotransmitter was discovered by shamans in the Caspian Sea area of Asia and quickly spread to other wizards throughout Eurasia and Africa. It is, of course, cannabis. Weed. Mother Mary Jane.
It is no accident that the pot-head generally refers to his neural state as "high" or "spaced-out." The transcendence of gravitational, digital, linear, either-or, Aristotelian, Newtonian, Euclidean, planetary orientations (circuits I-IV) is, in evolutionary perspective, part of our neurological preparation for the inevitable migration off our home planet, now beginning.

While we normally only use 10% of the brain (discussable), LSD makes you use 90%, therefore actually enhancing your use of the brain during the trip. Now which parts it actually affects and if the normal usage is only 10% I don't know.

Hahaha, was wondering when someone would pull out the 'drugs open your mind' argument. As a follow up on that, this is something that I heard through word of mouth, not something that I have done propper research on post-wiki, so don't take it as fact but rather as an informed opinion:
While we normally only use 10% of the brain (discussable), LSD makes you use 90%, therefore actually enhancing your use of the brain during the trip. Now which parts it actually affects and if the normal usage is only 10% I don't know.
~RM
Normally the brain filters out a lot of information, and I have read (not studies) that some drugs (LSD, psilocybin, mescaline) just makes the brain stop filtering out this information. Which sounds like what you are saying, but I may be wrong.
Either my post wasn't clear or I can sense some retardation in the air.

People who support marijuana are not hippies, that was the 70's. The correct term is marijuana activists.
I lol'd. "Marijuana activist"..

You say you don't have an opinion but you're posting biased stereotypical comments from both sides…May I suggest you know what you're talking about before posting and not just repeating what you've heard?
Well, which side am I taking then? I'm posting biased stereotypical comments from both sides because thats what these "debates" are always filled with.
From: Camo Developer
Weed has never been about getting people to use less alcohol or cigs, where the hell did you get that from?
Alot of retards use that as an excuse to legalize weed. It's one of the most common excuses, actually. Weird that it hasn't come up on this thread yet.
From: Camo Developer
Why are you associating weed with criminal drug abuse? Those don't go together in anyway..
Hurr durr, maybe because it's an illegal drug and you get a damn criminal record for possession/selling/using(not sure really, might depend on your location) at least here you do.
From: Camo Developer
Yes, it is possible for idiots to be a criminal and smoke weed, but it's not just the weed, it's other circumstances too (Other drugs). So since I smoke weed, then it's not possible for me to work as a programmer? I had a 6 month contract with a web programming company and smoked every day.
I didn't say it's impossible for you to work as a programmer. What I did say is gl finding a decent job with a criminal record. It's stupid to think that if there are a couple equally qualified people applying for a job and one has a criminal record it'll just be overlooked. It's an insta-lose for you.
From: Camo Developer
So you're saying that people who work in the fast food industry are nothing but pot heads?
Plenty of students and general failures do (and now you'll ask me something like "SO IS THE C.E.O OF MCDONALDS A FAILURE HURR DURR"). What I was saying was that you're more likely to get stuck with a shit job like that if you have a criminal record.
From: Camo Developer

You're saying pot smokers don't work, well you're wrong on all accounts.
Where did I say that? You're purposely twisting my words around and misunderstanding me.
From: Camo Developer
Also, most employers really don't care if you have a drug record as long as it's reasonable.
I lol'd.. Oh wow… Now, please, show me the facts about this?
I just said that the reason I stay away from weed is that I don't want to get any shit for it, I wasn't bashing weed or it's users really, I just said that the main reason I stay away from it is because it's illegal and I don't want to get shit for many years for something stupid I do now. I don't have any burning need to smoke it so I'll see if it ever becomes legal and then think about it. I have nothing againts people who do smoke it, I don't really give a fuck about anything that people do as long as it's not directly bothering me.
From: Camo Developer
You sir, have pissed me off with your uneducated remarks about a subject that you yourself said you don't have an opinion on. Like I said before, actually learn and educate yourself about a subject before responding with bullshit.
As I've said already in this post, the only thing I was making remarks of was getting a criminal record and the shit that comes along with it.
I don't understand why people get so defensive when someone says something "bad" about weed. If you even imply that it can cause someone harm people react as if you just showed them a video on which you dig their dead grandmothers corpse up and stick your penis in it's eye socket. But as I said, these days this is one of the easiest things to troll people about, along with religion, global warming and 9/11.

How about you have a nice read before you go dissing an entre cultue / lifestyle?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie
Hippies opposed political and social orthodoxy, choosing a gentle and nondoctrinaire ideology that favored peace, love and personal freedom, perhaps best epitomized by The Beatles' song "All You Need is Love"
"Do your own thing, wherever you have to do it and whenever you want. Drop out. Leave society as you have known it. Leave it utterly. Blow the mind of every straight person you can reach. Turn them on, if not to drugs, then to beauty, love, honesty, fun."
Many embrace the hippie values of peace, love, and community, and hippies may still be found in bohemian enclaves around the world.
Much of hippie clothing was self-made in defiance of corporate culture, and hippies often purchased their clothes from flea markets and second-hand shops.
he peace symbol was developed in the UK as a logo for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, and was embraced by U.S. anti-war protestors during the 1960s. Hippies were often pacifists and participated in non-violent political demonstrations, such as civil rights marches, the marches on Washington D.C., and anti–Vietnam War demonstrations
"They mostly prefer to be stoned, but most of them want peace, and they want an end to this stuff."
Hippie political expression often took the form of "dropping out" of society to implement the changes they sought. Politically motivated movements aided by hippies include the back to the land movement of the 1960s, cooperative business enterprises, alternative energy, the free press movement, and organic farming
Harder drugs, such as amphetamines and heroin were also used in hippie settings; however, these drugs were often disdained, even among those who used them, because they were recognized as harmful and addictive.
The legacy of the hippie movement continues to permeate Western society.[86] In general, unmarried couples of all ages feel free to travel and live together without societal disapproval.[61][87] Frankness regarding sexual matters has become more common, and the rights of homosexual, bisexual and transsexual people, as well as people who choose not to categorize themselves at all, have expanded.[88] Religious and cultural diversity has gained greater acceptance.
In the UK, there are many new age travellers who are known as hippies to outsiders, but prefer to call themselves the Peace Convoy.
Finally, not from wiki but rather bob marley…
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Welcome to the culture of freedom.
If only you realized that it is due to the hippies that there are so many anti-war, green and rights equalization movements you would perhaps not be so fast to judge an entire culture. Some even came to call it a religion.
I'd be surprised if you haven't ever considered joining a hippie-influenced cause. either on a march or even just a facebook, such as "Save Haiti" or "End the war"

Hippies are misinterpreted. They're usually portrayed as "dirty" or "bad" people (especially to society as a whole), due to comics/cartoons.. Haha so the people who say that hippies are bad people and ruin society get their facts from Sponge Bob. x]
Anyway, GoF, your opinion is fine and dandy (it's legal to be high, and here under an oz is decriminalized (unrelated), as long as you don't have it on you (that goes for every state in America I think..), but they just seem very generically anti-drug. Which is totally fine as long as you know what you're talking about (actual facts, not government-censored facts (and if you think the government doesn't censor stuff, then you're doing well in the government's eyes. :p)). :>

Dude. Honestly, do some research. It is true. We normally use 10% to 15% of our brain. The other parts are primitive parts of the brain now inactive, and dormant areas that will become active through evolution. Don't be so quick to think that we are as evolved as possible, cause its not true. We've got a long way to go.

Rasta speaks truth, except for the part about how we use 10% of our brain, that's an old belief that didn't make it through research. :)
We use 10% of our brain for conscious purposes, the rest is for subconscious mechanisms like feelings, making your stomach digest, etc. To clarify, it's like saying we use 10% of SCAR - it's true that we only interact with the interface but shit wouldn't get done without the rest of it.
EDIT : Hippies indeed are often dirty, but they're among the least lazy people you'd know. How about making your own clothes, cooking your food straight from raw ingredients, and adding that to all the basic stuff that you need to do to get along (get a job, pay for your studio and transportation, etc.) You'd probably find the lifestyle demanding. :)

Sort of. Drugs mimic the actions of neurotransmitters, having different concentrations of neurotransmitters in certain areas of the brain causes different thought patterns/brainwave patterns etc. Basically, new circuits of conciousness. It's all in that link I posted on page 4.

It actually is like pokemon, read that link I posted on page 4. :o So I was reading about the mental effects of THC, and I found that anandamide was quite interesting. :) It might be good to read for those who say that weed is bad because it gives you short term memory or whatever.. (Just to let you know, in case you don't read about it, humans have short term memory anyway.. >_> If we didn't forget things, we'd be in a very different world. For example, if you remembered every single thing exactly as you saw it, and when it moved, you still saw the image because you never realized that it was changed, then you'd eventually not see anything at all, because it'd be too much going on to make anything of it. And if we remembered exactly what every feeling of typing was, we'd have too much memory for our brains, and a bunch of stuff like that.)

Yes it gives you 3x more damage to your lungs then tobacco. I heard that on another documentary where people did studies about it.
But me personally, I have never done drugs, some of the legal ones I don't do. The only drug I have ever done is caffeine (I drink green tea and normal tea occasionally). That's all I have done, and I don't drink either.
No it doesn't. Those studies used the entire plant to test it. They used leaves, stems, and all. Marijuana smokers only smoke the bud. The bud is tested to have 3x LESS then a cigarette.
Fun fact: 90% of tobacco related cancer is not due to carcinogens, but rather the fertilizer containing radium 226. Which your body then breaks down into lead 210 and polonium 210. Marijuana does not contain any radioactive chemicals.
Also remember that people who smoke cigarettes smoke up to 20 or even way higher, every day. Some marijuana smokers smoke a joint once every few weeks/months. Others do it everyday..
Cigarettes cause much more damage, you are a fool to think otherwise.

Now, I have read through that site linked earlier, and I had a discussion with Sex about it a while a go. Now early in the posts, some mentioned a documentary, and someone said it was bias, now don't tell me you don't think abovetheignorance WASN'T bias. Now whilst I am not against smoking weed, I would rather people didn't due to the fact its illegal, not because of WHY its illegal, but simply because it IS illegal, and I am kinda a goody 2 shoes.
BUT I am for the government regulated distribution of many drugs, as from most of them, the effects are due to the added chemicals, which are used by those selling them illegally, this would stop that issue.
Now whilst I know it technically IS impossible to O.D. on cannabis when SMOKING it, but a popular other way of getting high, which is eating it in things such as a quiche, which, if enough is eaten can cause an overdose.
Every single drug has rare side effects, which people have cited, saying people shouldn't smoke it because of that. but ALL drugs, from Panadol to speed. PEANUTS can have negative side effects if you are allergic, anything can cause some issue, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is 100% safe and foolproof…

Bad Boy JH, you can't OD eating it. You'd throw up/die before eating enough.. It's not like ever cookie has a pound of weed in it.. And even if it did, you wouldn't be able to eat enough.
I'm going to stress that there have been no deaths directly related to weed (other than maybe allergies, but I haven't read of any. Only including them because anyone can be allergic to anything).
And again, I don't care if people smoke weed or not. Sure, I'll suggest and ask people if they wanna smoke, just because I know they'd have fun and it's nice to see people actually having fun in this world, but if they don't want to I won't continually pressure them into it or anything. Same goes for if someone asks someone else to smoke with them and they say no. If the stoner persistently pressures them, I'll tell them to chill.
The whole reason I started this thread was to just see people's views on it by the way. ;) And so thank you all (even cycrosism. ;D I love seeing the other side's view so that I actually have an idea of how they think about it, so it was nice to see your view (even though, no offence.. it's just how it is, some of your points weren't factual. ^^).

proven OD ratio of THC could be reached… but you'd need some dam good resources and help from at least one other person.

Same way it is possible to OD from shrooms although you'd have to eat quite a few kilograms first and would probably end up killing urself in a trip before you ODed.
Yes, everything is possible, but could we stick to what are 'normal' circunstances? :p So far I have never seen or heard of anyone injecting THC :p

Prescribed to me for depression, anxiety, I was "unhealthily underweight," and now I'm at a normal weight which is good, arthritis (and I'm only 16.. shit sucks), and ADD.
