JNR PMS - I am trying to get Juniors to get more involved in scripting.
With PMS, we will be creating scripts in a group effort.
Now I know JP posted this but AFAIK it did not even start and I asked Junior Members and they told me to post.

I am always one to help and create scripts with Juniors as it gives me such a greater reward! :norris:

What are we looking for?:

Current Ideas/Projects:

We will have an SVN Subversion which we will use to keep our scripts up to date.

Every contributor will NEED a GoogleCode account, which is a 1 minute job.

At the moment we will be only Color Based. Seeing as though Reflection is broken.

It will be open source so all contributors can commit, but I will be looking over all the code so everything is in line and doesnt get out of hand.
I am always here to help people in PMS :)

Personally, I think lots of Junior Members are more creative and in some cases more skilled than some Members.
So I will have NO controversy of people saying that Junior Members can't script.

ALL Junior Members will be accepted as a contributor.

All contributors will be given credit for committing and there may be a little competition held within PMS.

How to connect to the svn
Get your googlecode pass from here:
https://code.google.com/hosting/settings

checkout with the committers link.
A box will open with a space for username and pass.
put in your googlecode username.
and your Generated password in the password box.
Now click ok.
Done.

Yeah, rock on ;-) I'll be happy to contribute some more, and make some test runs too.

I would be rather interested in making something which isn't a regular bot thing to do, such as questing? making a quest solver will put you up against many different task.

This project seems pretty open, and one of the principles of open source is to not double up work.

@Myles there are many Jnr members that are well out of some of the member leagues. Members are people who want to LOOK and be seen to be better than other people. Whereas these Jnr members are amazing scripters butbdont need/want the credit.

I'm not exactly drawing the line at members, I've already let in 1 jr member just a few minutes ago. The source is completely open and there is a test thread which encourages people to post 'suggestment patches', and if they are decent scripters why can't they just ask to join or apply for members? I don't recall a single person that wanted to be a part of POMS ever been regretted the ability to.

However I still believe the threshold for POMS is higher, and personally I will encourage this project. However if I joined I would not help to create an essence miner, tutorial runner, or runecrafter as I see that as entirely counter-productive in my opinion.

I would only suggest something along the lines widely used high in demand things such as firecrafting, mining/banking, chopping banking, and fishing. You can add me to the SVN [email]IceFire908@NetScape.Net[/email] if you want, I probably won't do much but it always helps to have more eyes scanning over.

In the same sense that a war is counter productive, it IRL in may be a necessity because of extremists, but online it's like running the special Olympics. It wouldn't be much of a race as POMSEM, POMSTR, and RCrB are all completed or near completion, however I think you missed the entire point context of me saying that so I'll let you reconcile your thoughts and try again.

Competing is great, making a script that does the same thing is silly. Make something else, and compete based on number of users, longest proggies, stability, combined runtime, xp gained, etc etc.

I COMPLETELY support this and hope to be part of it :)

You could look at my Script Requests for ideas of scripts to make ! Some of these are pretty elaborate. A Rune Mysteries runner would be of order in my honest opinion. :)

PC, SW, hunter would be sweet, but I see no point in fishing and mining since excellent scripts already work these, even in the JR members section.

Hunter would be reaaally cash IMHO.

EDIT : Also, I will positively not work on script ideas that are already developed/being developed by POMS.

I'd like to see a gnome delivery bot going, but it's a lot of scripting (maybe 20 000 lines) of a lot of basic stuff. Maybe we could look into that?

Isn't it that mini game in which you have to run around the entire Runscape in order to deliver food to all kind of chiefs? but not just regular food, gnome made food.

Could be kinda awesome, but i guess the walking would be a pain in the a**…
